A method and apparatus are disclosed for generating a display image including a map view and linepiece information for example legible text and/or characters (e.g. alphanumeric) such as road names superposed on the map view. In at least one embodiment, the technique selects linepieces that are easy to read, by (i) selecting from a first subset of alphanumeric linepieces associated with information on the map, a second sub-set of the alphanumeric linepieces satisfying predetermined criteria including display angle; and (ii) including in the display image the second sub-set of alphanumeric linepieces. The first sub-set may be selected according to distance criteria.

The image display system includes a host, and a touch controller configured to generate touch event information corresponding to a touch signal and supply the touch event information to an accelerator, wherein the touch signal is output from a touch panel. The accelerator is configured to generate, based on the touch event information supplied from the touch controller, output image data corresponding to a touch event. The image display system further includes a display controller configured to supply the output image data generated by the accelerator to a display panel.

The filtering operation accepts a plurality of pixels out of the received image data as input values to generate a pixel of the display image data as output value. It is further determined whether the plurality of pixels being the input values to the filtering operation are marked. If all pixels thereof are marked, the output pixel being the output value is marked. The marked pixels in the display image data are validated on the basis reference data.
