Light field displays having synergistic data formatting, re-projection, foveation, tile binning and image warping technology

Systems, methods and apparatuses may provide for technology to reduce rendering overhead associated with light field displays. The technology may conduct data formatting, re-projection, foveation, tile binning and/or image warping operations with respect to a plurality of display planes in a light field display.

Light emitting display with tiles and data processing

A light emitting display can be formed from tiles mounted within a certain distance range with respect to each other and with an established blending region positioned towards the edges of the tiles. A tile can be a matrix of light emitting elements, such as LEDs, OLEDs, quantum dots, or other element that emits light. The tolerance of spacing between tiles can allow for less precision in alignment during installation in a theatre, thereby reducing display assembly cost but still maintaining a display for displaying an image at a high quality with reduced or eliminated appearance of visual artifacts between tiles.

A tiling device with a driving method having a low number of data pins is provided. The tiling device includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a data driving circuit. The first substrate includes a plurality of first semiconductor units. The second substrate includes a plurality of second semiconductor units. The data driving circuit simultaneously provides first data signals to the plurality of first semiconductor units and the plurality of second semiconductor units, and simultaneously provides second data signals to the plurality of first semiconductor units and the plurality of second semiconductor units.

GRAPHICS PROCESSING SYSTEMS

When performing foveated rendering, a graphics processor is controlled to render plural, e.g. three, different resolution versions from the same viewpoint for a scene. The rendered different resolution images are then appropriately combined (composited) to provide the output “foveated” image (output frame) that is displayed.

The geometry for the scene is processed and sorted into lists for respective rendering tiles of the images being rendered only once, to provide a single set of tile geometry lists that are then used in common when rendering each respective resolution image.

The present technology relates to an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a program that a memory capacity necessary for deformation processing of each frame image of a moving image can be reduced. Pixel data of a first frame image being each frame image of an input moving image is written into a predetermined plurality of storage areas in a storage unit in a predetermined write-in order, and the pixel data of the first frame image written into the storage unit is reads out in a predetermined read-out order, thereby generating a second frame image being the first frame image deformed. The write-in of the pixel data and the read-out of the pixel data are performed in parallel, the first frame image is divided into blocks in 2 rows×2 columns or more, the blocks are written into each of the storage area one by one, and the block to be written next is written into the storage area that becomes vacant by reading out the pixel data immediately before. The present technology is applicable, for example, to an image processing apparatus.

Apparatus and method for efficient frame-to-frame coherency exploitation for sort-last architectures

An apparatus and method are described for the frame-to-frame coherency algorithm for sort-last architecture. In one embodiment of the invention, if a tile of pixels is covered completely by one triangle from a static draw call in one frame, then that tile is marked with that draw call's identifier. For the next frame, if the same static draw call is drawn, the same tile will be visited, and if the draw call's fragment passes for all pixels, it indicates that tile will contain exactly the same pixel color values as the previous frame. Hence, there is no requirement to run the pixel shader for the tile of pixels, and the color values of the tile can instead be reused from the previous frame.

Multi-vision device

A multi-vision device can include a first display set configured to display a first split image of an entire image of content according to a progressive scanning method; a second display set disposed on a lower side of the first display set to display a second split image of the entire image; and a control unit configured to scan the second split image on the second display set according to a reverse-progressive scanning method, invert the scanned second split image vertically and display the inverted second split image on the second display set.
