Electromechanical device and system to automatically tune a drum assembly without having to strike either the top or bottom surface of the drum
The present invention is a system and methods for automating the tuning process for drums. The invention automatically applies tension across the batter heads of a drum. The invention consists of a plurality of electrical stepper motors each of which is connected to a gear reduction assembly and a rotating tension rod. The invention acts to exert a tensioning force on each attachment point around the circumference of the hoop(s) securing the batter head to the drum shell. An algorithm drives a microprocessor that monitors the current being used by each stepper motor assembly which is translated to torque. When the torque for each stepper motor assembly reaches a predetermined level, the tension holding the batter head and to the shell of the drum will be in tune.
Percussion instrument
A percussion instrument includes a drum head arranged on a support with a flange of the drum head extending from the support, wherein the support is an inner ring, and an outer ring comprising an abutment that is configured to engage the flange of the drum head. The inner ring and the outer ring are concentrically arranged and moveable relative to each other in a longitudinal direction. The percussion instrument also includes a tensioning mechanism having an external screw thread going around on an outer circumference of the inner ring, and an internal screw thread going around on an inner circumference of the outer ring.
Percussion instrument
A percussion instrument includes a drum head arranged on a support with a flange of the drum head extending from the support, wherein the support is an inner ring, and an outer ring comprising an abutment that is configured to engage the flange of the drum head. The inner ring and the outer ring are concentrically arranged and moveable relative to each other in a longitudinal direction. The percussion instrument also includes a tensioning mechanism having an external screw thread going around on an outer circumference of the inner ring, and an internal screw thread going around on an inner circumference of the outer ring.
Drum hoop fastening device
A drum hoop fastening device is provided. The drum hoop fastening device is configured to be disposed on a drum, and the drum includes a drum shell and a drum hoop disposed on the drum shell. The drum hoop fastening device includes: a main body and a filler. The main body is configured to be disposed on the drum shell and includes an inner space, at least one fastening member and at least one restricting member being blockable with the at least one fastening member. Each of the at least one fastening member is configured to be connected with a fastener disposed through the drum hoop so that the drum hoop is restricted to the drum shell. The filler is received within the inner space.

Tensioning system for vibrating membranes
A cable and pulley or guide apparatus for accurately tuning and securing a tunable vibrating membrane on a cylindrical shell by means of a plurality of either fixed-angle pulley or guide assemblies not parallel to the top-bottom axis of the shell, or adjustable-angle pulley or guide assemblies not parallel to the top-bottom axis of the shell, built into or attached to purpose built hoops, attached to hoops with protruding flanges through holes or slots, or attached to a claw or hook apparatus which secures over the edge of annular hoops, through which a cable is laced and fed into the tensioning mechanism(s) to increase or decrease the tension on the cable, thus tensioning the vibrating membrane or heads against the shell, the angles of the pulley or guide assemblies adjustable to conform to the natural angle of the cable traversing the circumference of the shell.
Tensioning system for vibrating membranes
A cable and pulley or guide apparatus for accurately tuning and securing a tunable vibrating membrane on a cylindrical shell by means of a plurality of either fixed-angle pulley or guide assemblies not parallel to the top-bottom axis of the shell, or adjustable-angle pulley or guide assemblies not parallel to the top-bottom axis of the shell, built into or attached to purpose built hoops, attached to hoops with protruding flanges through holes or slots, or attached to a claw or hook apparatus which secures over the edge of annular hoops, through which a cable is laced and fed into the tensioning mechanism(s) to increase or decrease the tension on the cable, thus tensioning the vibrating membrane or heads against the shell, the angles of the pulley or guide assemblies adjustable to conform to the natural angle of the cable traversing the circumference of the shell.
Drum key
A drum key is configured to turn a tension rod of a drum, where the tension rod is configured to tune the drum. The drum key comprises a first body having at least one recess shaped to receive the tension rod. The drum key comprises a second body configured to turn the drum key in response to receiving a force applied by a user. The drum key comprises a third body that defines a slot, where the slot is shaped to receive the tension rod. The drum key comprises a magnet located inside the slot defined by the third body and/or a magnet located inside the slot defined by the first, second, and third body.
