The present disclosure relates generally to a drum apparatus with advanced acoustic response and methods of manufacturing the drum apparatus. The drum apparatus includes an integral drum body having a side wall defining a resonant chamber. The integral drum body is formed by an additive manufacturing process or with a volume printing material that shapes the side wall to define an acoustic response of the drum apparatus. The side wall is shaped to define a top perimeter region and a bottom region of the integral drum body. The top perimeter region defines a top opening to the resonant chamber and the bottom region defines a bottom of the resonant chamber, opposite the top perimeter region. The side wall has a thickness or mass distribution controlled by the additive manufacturing process or defined by the volume printing material to modulate the acoustic response of the drum apparatus.

A snare unit formed from film material includes a plurality of slots that define segments. The snare unit is attachable relative to a drumhead with a surface of the film flat against a surface of the drumhead. In the attached position, one or more of the segments vibrates against the drumhead when the drumhead is struck to produce a snare-like audible sound. In a drumhead with reduced volume, the snare unit is positioned flat against one or more layers of a porous material to define a drumhead and attached such that a portion of the snare unit vibrates against a surface of the porous material when the drumhead is struck, thereby producing a snare-like sound having a volume reduced relative to a standard drumhead.

A snare unit formed from film material includes a plurality of slots that define segments. The snare unit is attachable relative to a drumhead with a surface of the film flat against a surface of the drumhead. An exemplary snare drum system comprises a shell, a batter head, a snare head, and a set of wires coupled to the snare head. The system comprises a tensioner coupleable to the set of wires of the snare drum. The tensioner comprising a base, a coarse adjuster, and a fine adjuster.

A snare pad includes a pad body, a batter surface member, and a dummy snare wire member. The batter surface member is coupled to the pad body. The dummy snare wire member is arranged in the pad body. The dummy snare wire member includes a plate-shaped first rigid member and a second rigid member that is arranged in a manner allowing for contact with the first rigid member. The batter surface member is coupled to the pad body without the pad body being located between the batter surface member and the dummy snare wire member.

A device for use in combination with a musical snare drum for altering the sounds produced consisting of a means for affixing the device to the drum, such as a bracket assembly, mounted on the upper and lower rims of the drum, connected to the bracket assembly is a flexible banding which extends around the top, sides, and bottom of the drum and is attached in a manner that allows for ease of movement along the long axis of the banding so that it can be adjusted by sliding along said axis, a muffler component composed of a felt pad or other suitable material is affixed to the flexible banding and positioned on the bottom of the drum in a manner that provides for the muffler to be repositioned at varying degrees of contact with the snares by advancing or retracting the banding so as to alter the tonal output.

According to an aspect of the present disclosure there is provided a practice pad for practising the use of a snare drum. The practice pad includes: an upper drum surface; and a sound generating device arranged below the drum surface. The sound generating device includes: a chamber having a first surface and an opposing second surface; and a plurality of elongate rods retained inside the chamber, between the first and second surfaces, so that the plurality of elongate rods vibrate against the first and second surfaces in response to a strike of the drum surface.

According to an aspect of the present disclosure there is provided a practice pad for practising the use of a snare drum. The practice pad includes: an upper drum surface; and a sound generating device arranged below the drum surface. The sound generating device includes: a chamber having a first surface and an opposing second surface; and a plurality of elongate rods retained inside the chamber, between the first and second surfaces, so that the plurality of elongate rods vibrate against the first and second surfaces in response to a strike of the drum surface.
