Device for a percussion instrument
The invention relates to a drum and to a device (1) therefor, having a system (3) for altering the attack and decay behavior, in particular the note length of the drum (2). The aim of the invention is to provide a device for a drum and a drum having such a device, which can alter the attack and decay behavior quickly and with little effort, and in particular enables setting of the note length and also of the timbre of the drum largely independently of the pitch. This aim is achieved in that the system (3) is fastened to the drum (100, 2) and has a clip (5) on which an adjustable connecting element (6) is arranged, which is designed for a connection to a support arm or to a base support (7).
Collapsible drum
An enhanced collapsible drum provides for a collapsible and expandable drum that in its collapsed state provides for improved portability and storage, while in its expanded state maintains the look, feel and playing quality of a drum having a traditional unibody shell or base design. The collapsible drum may be comprised of an elongated base or shell portion divided into two or more sections which may be nested in the collapsed position and can be extended and locked together by mating interlocking components to form an elongated drum base or shell in the expanded position. The collapsible drum may additionally include an internal lighting device and control responsive to sound. The collapsible drum may also include a case, handles and a strap for carrying or supporting the drum while playing or for securing the drum sections in the closed position.

Film Formed Snare and Reduced Volume Snare Drumhead
A snare unit formed from film material includes a plurality of slots that define segments. The snare unit is attachable relative to a drumhead with a surface of the film flat against a surface of the drumhead. In the attached position, one or more of the segments vibrates against the drumhead when the drumhead is struck to produce a snare-like audible sound. In a drumhead with reduced volume, the snare unit is positioned flat against one or more layers of a porous material to define a drumhead and attached such that a portion of the snare unit vibrates against a surface of the porous material when the drumhead is struck, thereby producing a snare-like sound having a volume reduced relative to a standard drumhead.
Drumhead with reduced volume
A reduced volume drumhead has a layer of porous material and a ring of compressible material. The ring of compressible material is fixed to the underside of the layer of porous material in a substantially centered or coaxial position with the porous material stretched across a hoop in tension. The ring may be formed of a foam or similar material with compressibility and stretchability under tension and defines an open central area of the drumhead for striking. The ring may be formed of segments and thus include one or more circumferential breaks with spacing. The drumhead provides natural tonal characteristics and has a natural feel when struck.

Low volume drumhead
According to some embodiments, a low volume drumhead is disclosed. The low volume drumhead comprises a mesh layer to be removably coupled to a drum hoop. The low volume drumhead further comprises a non-mesh layer affixed to a beatable surface of the mesh layer. An adhesive comprising elastic polymers is used to couple the mesh layer to the non-mesh layer.

Percussion instrument and tension applying method
A percussion instrument and a tension applying method are provided. A frame member where an outer edge of a membrane member is connected is arranged at the other side in the axial direction of a frame, and the frame member is tightened radially inward by a tension ring. The frame member has a predetermined elasticity, and a diameter of the frame member is reduced by a tightening force of the tension ring; thus, the tension may be applied to the membrane member by reducing the diameter of the frame member. That is, an edge portion of the membrane member may be uniformly pressed radially inward over the entire circumference by reducing the diameter of the frame member, and thus the tension may be uniformly applied to the entire membrane member.
