An electronic cajon comprises a box-like base body with a bottom wall, side walls and a cover wall, wherein the playing surface is sub-divided into a plurality of beat effect zones, the beat effect zones each have a beat converting device arranged in a storage compartment formed in the front wall, the beat converting device has a rubber-like impact plate forming the operation surface of each beat effect zone, a mechanical-electrical signal converter mounted on the inner side of the impact plate and a shock absorption inlay arranged between the impact plate and a bottom of the storage compartment around the signal converter, and a sound module assigned to the signal converters is provided, which converts the electrical signals from the signal converters into electrical sound signals and outputs them at an output of the electronic cajon.

An electronic drum, comprising: a bottom member; a drum head; a drum sensor comprising: a passive resonant circuit mounted on the drum head and having a resonant frequency; and an active resonant circuit mounted on the bottom member and configured to excite the passive resonant circuit at the resonant frequency; a sensor driver to drive the active resonant circuit with an RF drive signal at the resonant frequency; and a detector to detect a level of RF signal from the driven active resonant circuit for sensing a position and/or velocity of the drum head; and a signal processor, coupled to the detector, configured to process the detected level of RF signal to sense a position and/or velocity of the drum head for determining when the drum head is hit.

The actuator motion sensor comprises a passive resonant circuit configured to be moved by the actuator and having a resonant frequency, an active resonant circuit configured to excite the passive resonant circuit at the resonant frequency, a sensor driver to drive the active resonant circuit with an RF drive signal at the resonant frequency, and a detector to detect a level of RF signal from a driven actuator motion sensor for sensing a position and/or velocity of the actuator.

An electronic percussion device has a plurality of touch sensitive pad, an array of lighting elements disposed adjacent each pad, and a virtual display of the currently selected kit. The light array provides the user with immediate visual cue about the status and capabilities of the sound selections, without having to interrupt the user's performance. The user can color code and animate the illumination pattern of each light array so that, from a distance, the user is visually reminded what sounds are assigned to each pad, when sound associated with particular pad is currently playing, when playback of a sound associated with a pad is about to end.
