Musical instrument digital interface with voice note identifications
09997147 · 2018-06-12 ·

A method for generating voice identifications for MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) note signals. The method provides voice identification for every note in MIDI signals, which makes music learning intuitive and easier. The method can be used with any MIDI instruments as a separate unit, or a part of such instruments. Solfege is used as voice identification system since it is widely used in music education. However, any such system can be used or newly devised by preparing a different set of patches.

Embodiments of the present invention provide methods, computer program products, and systems to for automatic key transposition. Embodiments of the present invention can be used to determine compatibility between a known melody capable of being generated by a pitch generation system and a first performance profile associated with a first performer that performs in conjunction with the pitch generation system. Embodiments of the present invention can be further used to determine an appropriate key to update one or more pitches associated with the known melody, to be generated by the pitch generation system during the performance by the first performer, based on the compatibility between the first performance profile and the known melody.

The pedal steel guitar has a plurality of strings strung across the body, with at least one multi-element transducer positioned proximate the strings. At least one foot pedal or knee lever, carried by the body and being physically disengaged from the plurality of strings, is coupled to at least one sensor that produces an electronic sensor signal when the pedal or lever is moved. A digital signal processor receives the electronic transducer signal and the electronic sensor signal and operates on the electronic transducer signal in the digital domain. The processor uses the electronic sensor signal to manipulate at least one tonal property of the electronic sensor signal. The digital signal processor produces an audio output. The digital signal processor is programmed to change the manner in which the digital signal processor manipulates the at least one tonal property based on programming information received through a programming input.

Techniques are disclosed herein for generating harmonious audio. An input for changing a mode of an electronic device from a first mode to a second mode can be received and, in response, a controller of the electronic device can modify electrical connections between a matrix circuit and a set of keys of the electronic device. In modifying the electrical connections, a set of tones associated with a first subset of keys of the set of keys can be associated with a second subset of keys of the set of keys. Keys of the second subset of keys can be adjacent to at least one other key of the second subset of keys and tones of the set of tones can be associated with respective keys of the second subset of keys. Audio output when one key is operated can be harmonious with audio output when other keys are operated.
