CONTROLLABLE MUSIC GENERATION
The present disclosure describes techniques for controllable music generation. The techniques comprise extracting latent vectors from unlabelled data, the unlabelled data comprising a plurality of music note sequences, the plurality of music note sequences indicating a plurality of pieces of music; clustering the latent vectors into a plurality of classes corresponding to a plurality of music styles; generating a plurality of labelled latent vectors corresponding to the plurality of music styles, each of the plurality labelled latent vectors comprising information indicating features of a corresponding music style; and generating a first music note sequence indicating a first piece of music in a particular music style among the plurality of music styles based at least in part on a particular labelled latent vector among the plurality of labelled latent vectors, the particular labelled latent vector corresponding to the particular music style.
Generative composition with texture groups
A computer-implemented method of generating a musical composition containing a plurality of musical texture groups is disclosed. The method includes assembling musical texture groups from musical instrument components and associating therewith a tag expressing emotional textural connotation. The instrument components have musical textural classifiers selected from a set of pre-defined textural classifiers such that different instrument components may have a different subset of pre-defined textural classifiers. The textural classifiers within a texture group possess either no musical feature attribute or a single musical feature attribute and any number of musical accompaniment attributes. The method then generates at least one chord scheme to a narrative brief, to provide an emotional connotation to a series of events, the chord scheme generated by selecting and assembling Form Atoms. The final step includes applying a texture to the chord scheme to generate the musical composition reflecting the narrative brief.
AUTOMATIC PERFORMANCE APPARATUS, AUTOMATIC PERFORMANCE METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM
The disclosure provides an automatic performance apparatus, an automatic performance method, and a non-transitory computer readable medium. Notes to be sounded are stored in chronological order for each beat position which is a sound generation timing in a performance pattern. A probability of generating sound at the beat position is stored for each beat position in a sound generation probability pattern. According to the probability stored in the sound generation probability pattern, it is determined whether to generate sound or not for each beat position of the performance pattern.
METHOD AND INSTALLATION FOR PROCESSING A SEQUENCE OF SIGNALS FOR POLYPHONIC NOTE RECOGNITION
This is a method and installation in which a time-domain digital audio signal is split into a plurality of narrow-band time-domain digital audio signals confined to specific frequency bands, short-term segments of which are temporarily stored in memory. The method comprises the use of signal processing algorithms for extracting multiple signal features from said short-term segments in a fixed sequence or upon request from a decision-making algorithm. Said decision-making algorithm makes tentative or final decisions about the type of occupancy of frequency bands resulting from the extracted features. Said decision-making algorithm may request from said signal processing algorithms further specific feature extractions from specific short-term segments and make further tentative or final decisions about the type of occupancy of frequency bands resulting from the requested features. Next, said decision-making algorithm stores its tentative decisions and makes final decisions about band occupancy for processing together with results from later short-term segments. Eventually, said decision-making algorithm outputs final decisions derived from current and past short-segments in the form of a set of notes having been played over some recent time interval, together with information as to the timing of each note from the set.
MUSIC INFORMATION GENERATING DEVICE, MUSIC INFORMATION GENERATING METHOD, AND RECORDING MEDIUM
A music information generating device, including: a block color name recognizing part which selects and determines, from among plural color names which are made to correspond to plural ranges of color attribute value having been set beforehand, a color name corresponding to the representative-color of the block as a block color name of the block, by recognizing to which range of the color attribute value the representative-color of the block belongs, where the plural color names have been made or are going to be made to correspond to the plural sound-source names having been stored; and a diagram music-score generating unit which selects, based on a criterion having been set beforehand, a designated block from among the blocks having been arranged in lattice shape, and thereby generates a diagram music-score.
System and methods for automatically generating a musical composition having audibly correct form
A generative composition system reduces existing musical artefacts to constituent elements termed “Form Atoms”. These Form Atoms may each be of varying length and have musical properties and associations that link together through Markov chains. To provide myriad new composition, a set of heuristics ensures that musical textures between concatenated musical sections follow a supplied and defined briefing narrative for the new composition whilst contiguous concatenated Form Atoms are also automatically selected to see that similarities in respective and identified attributes of musical textures for those musical sections are maintained to maintain good musical form. Within the composition work, chord spacing and control are practiced to maintain musical sense in the new composition and a primitive heuristics structure maintains pitch and permits key transformation. The system provides signal analysis and music generation by allowing emotional connotations to be specified and reproduced from cross-referenced Form-Atoms.
GENERATIVE COMPOSITION WITH DEFINED FORM ATOM HEURISTICS
A generative composition system reduces existing musical artefacts to constituent elements termed “Form Atoms”. These Form Atoms may each be of varying length and have musical properties and associations that link together through Markov chains. To provide myriad new composition, a set of heuristics ensures that musical textures between concatenated musical sections follow a supplied and defined briefing narrative for the new composition whilst contiguous concatenated Form Atoms are also automatically selected to see that similarities in respective and identified attributes of musical textures for those musical sections are maintained to support maintenance of musical form. Independent aspects of the disclosure further ensure that, within the composition work, such as a media product or a real-time audio stream, chord spacing determination and control are practiced to maintain musical sense in the new composition. Further, a structuring of primitive heuristics operates to maintain pitch and permit key transformation. The system and its functionality provides signal analysis and music generation through allowing emotional connotations to be specified and reproduced from cross-referenced Form-Atoms.

The automatic music playing control device has at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor probabilistically selects any one of a plurality of timing types that defines the number of sound emissions, probabilistically selects any one of a plurality of note timing tables that defines sound emission timings, corresponding to the selected timing type, and instructs a sound source to emit a chord at a sound emission timing based on the selected note timing table.
SCALABLE SIMILARITY-BASED GENERATION OF COMPATIBLE MUSIC MIXES
Scalable similarity-based generation of compatible music mixes. Music clips are projected in a pitch interval space for computing musical compatibility between the clips as distances or similarities in the pitch interval space. The distance or similarity between clips reflects the degree to which clips are harmonically compatible. The distance or similarity in the pitch interval space between a candidate music clip and a partial mix can be used to determine if the candidate music clip is harmonically compatible with the partial mix. An indexable feature space may be both beats-per-minute (BPM)-agnostic and musical key-agnostic such that harmonic compatibility can be quickly determined among potentially millions of music clips. A graphical user interface-based user application allows users to easily discover combinations of clips from a library that result in a perceptually high-quality mix that is highly consonant and pleasant-sounding and reflects the principles of musical harmony.
