Systems and methods for capturing and interpreting audio

A device is provided for capturing vibrations produced by an object such as a musical instrument such as a cymbal of a drum kit. The device comprises a detectable element, such as a ferromagnetic element, such as a metal shim and a sensor spaced apart from and located relative to the musical instrument. The detectable element is located between the sensor and the musical instrument. When the musical instrument vibrates, the sensor remains stationary and the detectable element is vibrated relative to the sensor by the musical instrument.

A string instrument tailpiece system, a retrofit kit, and method for control of an off-instrument signal processor are disclosed. The system includes a tailpiece and a control bar having an end portion configured to be received in a socket on the stringed instrument and rotatable about an axis of rotation. A magnet is attached to the end portion of the control bar. A sensor chip in or adjacent the socket is spaced from the magnet by a gap sufficiently small to enable the sensor chip to detect a change in the magnetic field due to a rotation of the control bar. A sensor circuit outputs a control signal based on a change in the magnetic field resulting from rotating the control bar, where the control signal is separate from the audio signal of the instrument.

An electronic drum-module for connection to electronic-drum pads is provided. The module includes an electronic display, a memory storing audio files for playback when the playback is triggered by a signal received from the pads, and one or more processors coupled to the electronic display and the memory. The processors are configured to play a portion of the one or more audio files when the playback is triggered by the signal received from the pads and to display, on the electronic display, a user interface for an application. The user interface includes a waveform associated with recorded audio. The user interface includes a sample-start marker and a sample-end marker. A portion of the waveform between the sample-start marker and sample-end marker is displayed brighter than a portion not between the sample-start marker and the sample-end marker. Playback of the portion may be initiated by striking a drum-pad zone.

Emulation of at least one sound of a drum-type percussion instrument
11120780 · 2021-09-14 · ·

The present invention relates to a removable electronic device for emulating at least one sound of a drum-type percussion instrument, said device being intended to instrumentalise a striking element. A defining means defines a striking area on a tangible support. An allocating means allocates a drum element associated with a predetermined sound to the striking area, in a database. At least one sensor generates a stroke signal having at least one piece of stroke information on a stroke of a user with the striking element in the striking area. A computer processing means implements a processing algorithm configured to process the stroke signal to spatially locate said stroke in order to detect the area struck and to determine the drum element corresponding to this area struck. A generating means is configured to generate a sound signal comprising information on the sound virtually generated by said stroke of the striking element in said area struck.
