Digital marketing applications for electronic cigarette users

An electronic cigarette (“e-Cig”) may include functionality for targeted marketing. The marketing may be through communications with a computing device, such as a smartphone. For example, a smartphone application may be used for monitoring e-Cig usage and collecting data regarding the user and the usage. That data may result in targeted marketing. In another example, location information may also be used for targeted advertisements from a retailer.

Calibrated dose control

Methods and vaporizer apparatuses that estimate, measure and/or predict the amount of vapor and/or material (including active ingredients) released by the vaporizer apparatus. In particular, described herein are electronic vaporizers and methods of using them that determine a dose/amount of vapor and/or a material in the vapor based primarily or exclusively on the electrical and thermal properties, e.g., power or energy applied to the vaporizing element (e.g., heating coil) and the temperature of the material immediately before and as it is vaporized. Dose information may be used to control operation of the device and/or reported to the user.

Method of Authentification of a Consumable for UES with an Aerosol-Generating Device
20230025261 · 2023-01-26 · ·

A method of authenticating a consumable for use with an aerosol generating device, includes initiating a communication between the aerosol generating device and a first entity to obtain the consumable from the first entity for use with the aerosol generating device, the aerosol generating device being associated with a device ID and the consumable being associated with a consumable ID; sending the device ID and the consumable ID from the first entity to a second entity, wherein the second entity is configured to associate and store the device ID with the consumable ID; and verifying use of the consumable with the aerosol generating device.

Electrically operated aerosol generation system

An aerosol generation system for generation of an aerosol from an aerosol-forming precursor includes an electrically operated heating system to heat the precursor to generate the aerosol, a flow path for transmission of flow, including the aerosol, to a user, the heating system arranged in fluid communication with the flow path, and electrical circuitry. The electrical circuitry is configured to apply a predetermined amount of electrical energy to the heating system to stabilise a property of electrical energy through the heating system, and determine a property related to the flow of the flow path based on the stabilised property of the electrical energy through the heating system, wherein the property related to the flow is an amount of one or more components of the aerosol.
