The arm may comprise: a housing; one or more buttons; a spindle engagement portion; a stylus cartridge; a power supply; one or more wireless communication devices; a linear actuator; a motor; and a vertical solenoid. The base may receive a phonographic record, and the spindle engagement portion may engage with the spindle, such that the arm is entirely supported above said base via said spindle and only the spindle.
