Data storage drive with dedicated erase transducer
A recording head has a magnetic write transducer having a first crosstrack width operable to write a single track of data at a time to a magnetic disk. The recording head also has a magnetic erase transducer separate from the magnetic write transducer. The magnetic erase transducer has a second crosstrack width operable to simultaneously erase multiple tracks of data from the magnetic disk.

METHOD OF DATA CLEARING OF HARD DISK, APPARATUS, AND COMPUTER READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM APPLYING THE METHOD
A method of data clearing of a hard disk comprises search a last target logic block of a target hard disk according to a predetermined sequence. Stored data in the target logic block is read for determining whether the stored data includes disk array information. The stored data of the target logic block is cleared while the stored data includes the disk array information. By accurately clearing minimum data, a data clearing process of the target hard disk is completed. By comparing with the full disk format manner, an effective of data clearing is improved. An apparatus and a computer readable storage medium applying the method are also disclosed.

Rapid demagnetization method based on characteristics of magnetic media
A rapid demagnetization method based on characteristics of magnetic media. In the method, basic information is obtained by a recognition module of magnetic media by means of multi-source sensing collaboration. The magnetic medium is identified by using a data processing technology and a magnetic medium identification algorithm, and then the characteristic information is extracted. Optimized set values of demagnetization parameters are obtained by a demagnetization parameter optimizing and setting module based on a demagnetization optimizing model. Demagnetization parameter set values are tracked by a closed-loop control module of a demagnetization magnetic field in combination with domain expert knowledge by using a closed-loop control mechanism integrated with a magnetic field control algorithm, a charging-discharging device, a magnetic field generating device, a magnetic field sensor and an environmental sensor, completing the rapid demagnetization of the magnetic medium.
Method and apparatus for degaussing heat-assisted magnetic recording media
An apparatus comprises a magnet housing dimensioned to receive a heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) medium or a hard disk drive comprising at least one HAMR medium. A degausser is disposed in the magnet housing and is configured to generate at least one field sufficient to erase the HAMR medium, where the HAMR medium has a coercivity of between about 20 and 100 kOe at room temperature.
MAGNITEIC STRUCTURE FOR ERASING MEDIA HAVING HIGH MAGNETIC COERCIVITY
A magnet structure for a magnetic data storage medium erasing apparatus includes a first half comprising a first plurality of magnets arranged symmetrically, having polarization direction of adjacent magnets in quadrature and at an oblique angle with respect to a plane of symmetry. A second half comprises a second plurality of magnets arranged symmetrically, having polarization direction of adjacent magnets in quadrature and at an oblique angle with respect to the plane of symmetry. The second half is arranged symmetrically with respect to the first half, wherein the first half and the second half are separated by an air gap disposed about the plane of symmetry.
