Storage library system

Implementations generally relate to storage systems. In one implementation, a system includes a plurality of storage libraries that store a plurality of removable media units. The system also includes a plurality of head units for reading and writing to one or more of the removable media units. The system also includes a plurality of robots that transfer one or more of the removable media units between one or more of the storage libraries and one or more of the head units. The system also includes enabling one or more of the robots to recover a set of data from two or more of the removable media units if a failure occurs in association with at least one of the other removable media units.

An apparatus may include, for example, an array of optical sensors. The array of optical sensors may be configured to read a plurality of parallel linear strips of data from an optical medium.

Method of mass transfer of plurality of data discs with disc drive slots

The present disclosure relates to a storage and transfer apparatus for mass transfer of a plurality of data discs to trays of a plurality stacked disc drives. The storage and transfer apparatus may store a plurality of discs with the disc hold pins retracted and the telescopic sections collapsed over each other. In such a configuration, the stored discs may lie in contact with each other. The storage and transfer apparatus may transfer the plurality of discs to the trays of the plurality of stacked disc drives with the discs holding pins extended and the telescopic sections extended relative to each other.

Optical disc drive and electronic equipment

There is provided an optical disc drive that can maintain contact between an optical disc and a conveying roller, while allowing the number of components to be reduced. A conveying roller includes a right roller that is rotatable around an axis and a left roller that is rotatable around an axis. The right roller portion and the left roller portion are arranged in a lateral direction. One of a right end portion of the right roller portion and a left end portion of the left roller portion is movable in an up-down direction relative to the other of the right end portion of the right roller portion and the left end portion of the left roller portion, with a relative position between the axis and the axis unchanged.

Opening/closing mechanism for rotary cover

A rotation cover opening/closing mechanism includes a transparent plate-shaped cover, a shaft body, and a turning mechanism. The cover closes an opening portion formed in a part of an upper surface of device body. One end of the shaft body is perpendicularly fixed to the cover, and at least a part of the shaft body at the other end of the shaft body is inserted into the device body. The turning mechanism rotatably supports the shaft body inside the device body to allow turning of the cover around the shaft body in a plane parallel with the upper surface of the device body. The turning mechanism includes a limitation portion that limits a rotation angle of the shaft body to a fixed range such that the cover turns between a cover closing position where the cover closes the opening portion, and a cover opening position where the cover opens the opening portion.

Media playback apparatus and shutter mechanism

A cam projection sliding in a cam slot of an arm causes the arm to proceed to an arm when a shutter is in the closed position or the open position and to recede from the arm when the shutter is sliding between the open position and the closed position. A spring is thereby considerably displaced, providing a satisfactory operation of the shutter.

Media playback apparatus and shutter mechanism

A cam projection sliding in a cam slot of an arm causes the arm to proceed to an arm when a shutter is in the closed position or the open position and to recede from the arm when the shutter is sliding between the open position and the closed position. A spring is thereby considerably displaced, providing a satisfactory operation of the shutter.

A base frame includes a spindle motor and an optical element. An inner case houses the base frame, and supports a conveying mechanism configured to convey an optical disc to the position of the spindle motor. An outer case houses the inner case. The base frame is fixed in the inner case via a first damper, and the inner case is fixed in the outer case via a second damper.

An optical disc drive (ODD) including a housing, a tray, a panel, a first linkage, and a second linkage is provided. The tray is movably disposed at the housing to move into or move out of the housing. The panel is connected to the tray and located at a side of the housing. The first linkage is rotatably disposed on the panel and located between the housing and the panel. The second linkage is rotatably disposed on the panel and located between the first linkage and the panel. By rotating the first linkage with respect to the panel in a first rotating direction, the second linkage is pushed by the first linkage and rotates with respect to the panel in a second rotating direction opposite to the first rotating direction so as to actuate the tray to move out of the housing.

System and method for automatically creating a media archive from content on a recording medium

A media player may include a media reader to read media content from a recording medium inserted into the media reader. The media player may also include a media analysis component to identify one or more valid portions of the recording medium containing media content and one or more invalid portions of the recording medium without media content. In one embodiment, the media player includes an archival component to store the media content from the one or more valid portions in a storage medium and a playback component to play back the one or more valid portions of the media content from the storage medium concurrently with the identification of the one or more valid portions by the media analysis component and the storage of the media content by the archival component.
