Flexible on-cylinder limit for drive performance management
The technology disclosed herein provides a method for generating an on-cylinder limit (OCLIM), the method including performing servo certification of a plurality of drives in a storage device to generate servo adaptive parameters (SAPs) by heads, generating a plurality of read adjust parameters (RAPs) by heads for the plurality of drives, generating an interim OCLIM value based on the SAPs by heads and RAPs by zones, and operating a disc drive write element using the interim OCLIM value.
Magnetic disk device and error correction processing method
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device includes a disk including a first track including a first parity sector and a second track including a second parity sector, a head that writes data to the disk and reads data from the disk, and a controller that writes, to the first parity sector, a third parity sector obtained by XORing a first sector group included in each of the first track and the second track, and writes, to the second parity sector, a fourth parity sector obtained by XORing a second sector group different from the first sector group, included in each of the first track and the second track.
MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE
A magnetic disk device includes a disk including a plurality of error sectors including a defect, a first track having a first parity sector, and a controller. The controller is configured to, upon receiving a write command to write first data in a first region of a portion of the first track, which is a portion of the first track, first perform an XOR operation on all sectors of the first track other than one or more sectors of the first region and the first parity sector of the first track, and then write the first data in the one or more sectors of the first region, perform a second XOR operation on the one or more sectors of the first region and the result of the first XOR operation, and write the result of the second XOR operation in the first parity sector.
MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device includes a plurality of magnetic disks, a plurality of magnetic heads provided correspondingly to the plurality of magnetic disks and configured to carry out read/write of data from/to the magnetic disks, and a control section configured to, when the magnetic head is in a second status before the magnetic head enters the first status, change setting in such a manner as to change a first memory area of a magnetic disk corresponding to the magnetic head in the second status among memory areas constituted of the plurality of magnetic disks to a second memory area in which a write count is limited.
MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE AND WRITE PROCESSING METHOD
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device includes a disk including a normal recording region written in a normal recording and a shingled recording region written in a shingled recording, a head including a write head and a plurality of read heads, the head moving on the disk by rotation about, a rotation axis, and a controller which selects and executes the normal recording and the shingled recording, wherein a first minimum value of a cross track interval in the radial direction of the disk between two read heads in the plurality of read heads in the normal recording region is smaller than a first maximum value of the cross track interval in the shingled recording region.
MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A controller for a magnetic disk device acquires a reproduction signal of servo burst data while moving a magnetic head along data tracks that intersect servo tracks at a plurality of points. The controller acquires correction values for correcting repeatable runout on a per servo sector basis based on the reproduction signal. The correction values include a first correction value, which is a correction value for a servo sector at a position where the data track and the servo track are substantially parallel to each other and a second correction value, which is a correction value fora servo sector at a position where the data track and the servo track are not substantially parallel to each other. The controller adjusts the first correction value based on the second correction value, and writes the correction values including the adjusted first correction value onto a magnetic disk.
Record control apparatus
A record control apparatus controls record of a data item in one or more record sections. The record control apparatus includes: a data acquisition section that acquires the data item having multiple types; a data storage section that stores in the record section, the one or more data items matching a record condition prepared in advance among the acquired data item having multiple types; and a condition change section that defines the record condition as an old record condition, and sets so that the data storage section utilizes a new record condition in place of the old record condition when receiving the new record condition different from the old condition from an outside.
