INSPECTION METHOD FOR OPTICAL DISC
An inspection method for a recordable optical disc includes focusing laser light on a recording layer and obtaining a data signal dependent on the laser light reflected by the recording layer. The inspection method also includes determining whether the optical disc includes a defect or not by identifying a first period every second period in the obtained data signal obtained, the first period being a period in which a signal level of the data signal is lower than a predetermined value, and each of the second periods corresponding to an ECC block, and outputting a result of the determination.
Data entry for an application
Disclosed are embodiments of systems and methods that allow for simplified entry of data. In one or more embodiments, an entry may be provided via a simplified entry form. Embodiments simplify data entry using natural language parsing. Embodiments may enable creation of an event for a calendaring application and/or within an application that is not primarily a calendaring application. Also disclosed are embodiments of systems and methods that allow for robust, flexible, secure, and efficient network and/or data file management. In one or more embodiments, items may be associated with labels, tags, or other identifiers, third parties may be associated with labels, tags, or other identifiers, and sharing with the third party may be based upon comparisons of the labels, tags, or other identifiers associated with the items and the labels, tags, or other identifiers associated with the third parties.
Servo pattern recording method, servo pattern recording apparatus, method of producing tape-like magnetic recording medium, tape-like magnetic recording medium, and servo write head
A servo pattern recording method includes: determining a first servo band group that includes three or more servo bands for recording a servo pattern in which first servo band identification information having a plurality of bits is to be embedded, and a second servo band group that includes three or more servo bands for recording a servo pattern in which second servo band identification information having a plurality of bits is to be embedded, the second servo band identification information being different from the first servo band identification information; and recording the first and second servo band identification information on the first and second servo band groups, respectively, such that a combination of a first pair and a second pair is not duplicated, the first pair being a pair of servo band identification information and a phase in one servo band read by a first servo read head, the second pair being a pair of servo band identification information and a phase in the other servo band read by a second servo read head.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND PROGRAM
Image reproduction according to a display apparatus is realized by acquiring image information of an ultra-high definition (UHD) image from a playlist file or a clip information file. A data processing unit that performs a reproduction process of a disc recording data acquires a playlist file or a clip information file as a reproduction control information file corresponding to reproduction data recorded in a disc, determines whether or not an ultra-high definition (UHD) image is recorded in the disc based on recording data of such a file, and, in a case where the ultra-high definition (UHD) image is recorded in the disc, acquires image information of the ultra-high definition (UHD) image from the reproduction control information and controls output data for a display apparatus based on the acquired image information.
Apparatus for methods for aligned servo-related features
Provided herein is a method, including creating a first pattern in a data region of a substrate, and creating a second pattern in a servo region of a substrate. A circumferential line pattern is created overlapping the first pattern to create rectangle-shaped protrusions in the data region of the substrate. A chevron pattern is created overlapping the second pattern to create chevron-derived protrusions in the servo region of the substrate.
Magnetic disk device and write method
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device including a disk, and a controller which calculates a first corrected value based on a first eccentricity of the disk, and writes a first track based on the first corrected value, wherein when the controller interrupts the process for writing the second track so as to overlap the first track at a first position, the controller measures a second eccentricity of the disk, and compares the first eccentricity with the second eccentricity, and when the first eccentricity is different from the second eccentricity, the controller restarts the process for writing the second track from a second position away from the first position in a radial direction.
ALIGNED SHINGLED WRITING FOR MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIA AND MEDIA HAVING SHINGLE EDGE POSITIONED TRACKS
A computer program product, according to one embodiment, includes a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith. The computer readable storage medium is not a transitory signal per se. Moreover, the program instructions readable and/or executable by a controller to cause the controller to perform a method which includes: determining, by the controller, whether a difference between information and corresponding design values is in a range; and computing, by the controller and using the information, data describing a lateral writing position to use during writing such that shingled track edges are aligned according to a format in response to determining that the difference between the information and corresponding design values is not in the range. The information corresponds to how an array of writers write and/or are expected to write to a magnetic medium during shingled recording.
DATA RECORDING APPARATUS AND DATA RECORDING METHOD
A data recording apparatus includes a disk, a read/write head, and a control circuit configured to control the head to perform reading of first data on the disk according to a first format and writing of second data to the disk according to a second format, wherein the second data is generated by compressing at least a part of the first data, and the second format is determined according to a data size of the second data.
Optical disc having a plurality of recording layers
An optical disc including at least three layers of recording layers that each record information in an information track. The recording layer includes: an inner circumferential side region positioned on the inner circumferential side; a data region which is positioned to the outer circumferential side of the inner circumferential side region and records content information; and an outer circumferential side region positioned to the outer circumferential side of the data region. The content information is recorded in the data region of the three or more layers, and a point on an upper layer and a point on a lower layer one layer below the upper layer at which playback switches from content information of the upper layer being played back in an inner circumferential direction to content information of the lower layer, are set to be more to the outside than an innermost circumferential position of the data region.
Data recovery using a multi-reader head
In a method, read signals from each of a plurality of read transducers of a data head are buffered for each of a plurality of cross-track positions of the head relative to a data track. The buffered read signals are processed to establish a quality metric for each of the read signals and at least one combination read signal comprising at least two of the read signals. A data recovery cross-track position and a reader configuration comprising one or more of the read transducers are identified based on the quality metrics. A data read operation is then performed with the data head in the data recovery cross-track position using the read signals from the identified reader configuration.
