Provided is an editable read-write data memory based on mechanical structure, including: a storage unit, a signal collection unit and a cantilever unit. The data memory is formed by arranging several storage units, and each of which includes a rotation unit and a variable-frequency unit. An N-pole magnet is provided on the rotation unit, and an S-pole probe is provided on the cantilever unit. When the external environment changes and drives the S-pole probe on the cantilever unit to approach the N-pole magnet on the rotating unit, the rotation unit rotates and drives the variable-frequency unit to buckle, and the change of buckling shape leads to a state change, so as to store data. The signal collection unit is connected with the variable-frequency unit, and the collected electrical signals are display. The stored information in the memory is read according to the change of the output electrical signals.

A recording control device, a recording control method, and a recording tape cartridge capable of estimating a lifetime of the recording tape cartridge are obtained. A recording control device reads information correlated with an error rate of reading or writing of data from or to a magnetic tape included in a recording tape cartridge, the information being recorded on a RFID tag included in the recording tape cartridge, and a measurement date of the information, and estimates a lifetime of the recording tape cartridge using the read information and the read measurement date, and the information measured at the time of using the recording tape cartridge and a measurement date.

Adaptive cleaning of a media surface responsive to a mechanical disturbance event

Apparatus and method for proactively cleaning a data storage surface subjected to a mechanical disturbance. In some embodiments, data access commands are serviced by a data storage device to transfer user data between a host device and a rotatable data recording surface using a radially moveable data transducer. A media cleaning operation is scheduled and performed in response to the detection of a mechanical disturbance event externally applied to the data storage device. The media cleaning operation involves sweeping the data transducer across the data recording surface from a first radius to a second radius over a selected time duration. The entirety of the data recording surface is swept if sufficient time is available between pending commands to maintain a desired host data transfer rate. Otherwise, a partial cleaning operation is scheduled in which portions of the recording surface are successively cleaned between the servicing of the pending commands.
