A mover replacement system for removing a media mover, movable between an operating position and a removable position, from within a media library includes a module housing and a service tray. The module housing forms at least a part of a library housing. The service tray is removably positionable within the module housing. The service tray is configured to releasably retain the media mover when the media mover is in the removable position so that the service tray and the media mover are movable as an integral unit out of and into the module housing. The service tray includes a tray body and at least one locking mechanism that is movable relative to the tray body between a retracted position when the at least one locking mechanism is positioned not to engage the media mover, and a fully extended position when the at least one locking mechanism is positioned to retain the media mover relative to the tray body.
Flexible mounting configurations for data storage drives in information handling systems
Systems and methods that may be employed for mounting data storage drives (e.g., HDDs, SSDs, etc.) within a chassis of an information handling system using storage drive carrier retaining features of a chassis and mating securing features of a storage drive carrier to provide a tool-less storage drive carrier mounting solution for an information handling system chassis that accommodates both cost-effective tooled storage drive carrier and premium tool-less storage drive carrier mounting configurations, e.g., without additional investment or reconfiguration of the chassis for either type of mounting configuration. The disclosed systems and methods may be further so implemented in a manner that without the presence of one or more drive bays within the chassis interior that may restrict access to the chassis interior and which may require a larger chassis and chassis enclosure to contain bay/s.
Tape cartridge including reel lock member
A tape cartridge according to an embodiment of the present technology includes: a tape reel; a cartridge case; and a reel lock member. The tape reel includes a reel hub having a bottomed cylindrical shape, a tape having been wound on the reel hub. The cartridge case includes a first protruding portion and a plurality of second protruding portions, the first protruding portion protruding toward a center of a bottom portion of the reel hub, the plurality of second protruding portions being arranged around the first protruding portion. The reel lock member is disposed inside the reel hub. The reel lock member includes a first tubular portion and a plurality of second tubular portions, the first tubular portion fitting with the first protruding portion, the plurality of second tubular portions fitting with the plurality of second protruding portions. The reel lock member is movable in a direction of the one axis between a lock position and a lock release position, the reel lock member engaging with the bottom portion of the reel hub at the lock position, engagement between the reel lock member and the bottom portion of the reel hub being released at the lock release position.
AUTOMATIC IMPLEMENTATION OF A PHYSICAL BARRIER TO PROTECT REMOVABLE STORAGE MEDIA ACCESS
The technology disclosed herein enables automatic implementation of a physical barrier to protect access to data on removable storage media. In a particular embodiment, a method provides determining that the item moved into a storage position using an automatic transfer mechanism and determining that a condition for protecting the item is satisfied. Upon determining that the condition is satisfied, the method provides implementing a physical barrier that prevents the automatic transfer mechanism from removing the item from the storage position.
System and method for rapid replacement of robotic media mover in automated media library
A mover replacement system for removing a media mover, movable between an operating position and a removable position, from within a media library includes a service tray and a capture assembly. The service tray is removably positionable within the library housing. The service tray includes a tray body. The capture assembly is configured to enable the service tray to securely receive and releasably retain the media mover when the media mover is in the removable position. The capture assembly includes at least one locking mechanism that is movable relative to the tray body between a retracted position when the at least one locking mechanism is positioned not to engage the media mover, and a fully extended position when the at least one locking mechanism is positioned to retain the media mover relative to the tray body when the media mover is in the removable position.
