SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A TAPE STORAGE DATA CARTRIDGE
A method of manufacturing magnetic tape storage data cartridges may include cutting a master tape having a first width into multiple tape sections that each have a smaller width than the first width, cleaning the tape sections to remove debris caused by the cutting, and writing the servo tracks on each tape section after the tape section is cleaned. The method may further include spooling each tape section into a respective tape cartridge after writing the servo track on the tape section.

A method of remediating a media asset comprising a magnetic tape includes preliminarily cleaning the media asset, treating the media asset, and finally cleaning the media asset. Treating the media asset includes baking the media asset, determining whether adjacent layers of the tape are stuck to each other, and re-baking the media asset. If adjacent layers of the tape are stuck to each other, the method includes submerging the magnetic tape in a cleaning bath for a predetermined period of time, unwinding the magnetic tape from a supply reel to a take-up reel at an unwind speed while drying the magnetic tape, and rewinding the magnetic tape onto the supply reel at a rewind speed before re-baking the media asset.

Provided are a tape drive cleaning device, tape drive library deploying a tape drive cleaning device, and method for using a tape drive cleaning device. The tape drive cleaning device is used to clean a tape drive having a tape drive loader tray in which a tape cartridge is inserted. The tape drive cleaning device includes a body and a material attached to the body. Dimensions of the body with the material are configured to fit into the tape drive loader tray to have the material engage a tray inner surfaces of the tape drive loader tray. The material is configured to collect debris on the tray inner surfaces when engaged with the tray inner surface.

Tape drive error recovery procedure selection based on humidity
In one general embodiment, an apparatus includes a magnetic head, and a controller coupled to the magnetic head, the controller being configured to perform a method that includes measuring humidity in a vicinity of the apparatus in response to detection of an error while performing a data operation on a magnetic recording tape. An error recovery procedure to remove debris on the tape is executed in response to detection of an error and the measured humidity exceeding a predefined upper limit value. An error recovery procedure to remove debris adhering to the magnetic head is executed in response to detection of an error and the measured humidity being below a predefined lower limit value.
