Disk device to cover a welded part or a housing with a protective member
According to one embodiment, a disk device includes a recording medium of a disk form, a magnetic head, a housing, and a first protective member made of a resin. The recording medium includes a recording layer. The magnetic head is configured to read/write information from/to the recording medium. The housing includes a base provided with an inner chamber in which the recording medium and the magnetic head are accommodated, a cover that covers the inner chamber, and a welded part at which the base and the cover are welded to each other. The first protective member is located outside the housing, to cover at least part of the welded part.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR SEALING HARD DRIVES
A hard drive includes a base deck and process cover that define a cavity for housing data storage components. The hard drive further includes a final cover that is placed over the process cover and is coupled to the base deck. The final cover and process cover are directly coupled to each other.
Management of robotics assembly and cartridge access port of media element storage library
Utilities that increase the volume of media elements that can be simultaneously loaded and/or unloaded into or from a storage library, facilitate mounting of media element magazines into a storage library, and limit access to an interior of a storage library by users during operation of robotics assemblies of the storage library. One disclosed utility includes a cartridge access port for use with a storage library that has a storage container that is pivotable (e.g., swingable) between at least first and second positions. In the first position, the storage container is adjacent an opening in the housing of the library for loading and unloading of media elements by a user into or from the container via the opening. After the storage container has swung into the second position, the storage container is spaced from the opening and faces the interior of the library for access by a robotics assembly.
HEAT AND FLOW MANAGEMENT IN A COMPUTING DEVICE
A computing device caddy for housing a computing device is provided. The caddy includes a first caddy component. The first caddy component includes a first end wall including a first plurality of fins coupled to an outer surface of the first end wall. The first plurality of fins are configured relative to each other to create eddies within a flow. The caddy also includes a second caddy component. The second caddy component includes a second end wall. The second end wall is opposite the first end wall. The second caddy component is coupled to the first caddy component, thereby defining a cavity for housing the computing device.
Terminal
Embodiments provide a terminal, and the terminal includes a body, a cover body covering the body, a circuit board mounted in the body, a central processing unit welded on the circuit board, a control part mounted on the cover body, and a protection switch welded on the circuit board. A hard disk slot for accommodating a hard disk is disposed in the body. The cover body is detachably mounted on the body, and is configured to seal the hard disk in the hard disk slot. The cover body is opened to drive the control part to open the protection switch. An electrical signal variation is generated due to opening of the protection switch. After detecting the electrical signal variation, the central processing unit instructs the hard disk to perform data protection and powers off the hard disk.
PROTECTION OF DISK DRIVE FROM EXTERNAL ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES
A disk drive includes a metal base that has a rectangular bottom wall and side walls formed on each side of the rectangular bottom wall, the side walls including a first side wall on a shorter side, a metal cover that is fixed to the metal base with a plurality of metal screws, including two screws disposed at opposite ends of the side wall, a gap being formed between an upper end of the first side wall and the metal cover, a magnetic disk disposed on the metal base, at a position offset from a center of the metal base in a longitudinal direction towards the first side wall, and a head. The first side wall and the metal cover are electrically connected at an intermediate position of the first side wall between said opposite ends of the first side wall.
Shield for external welds of hermetically sealed electronics devices
Described herein is a system that includes a hard disk drive. The hard disk drive includes a base and a cover welded to the base by a weld bead. The base and the cover form a hermetically sealed housing. The system further includes a shield, coupled to an exterior of the hermetically sealed housing over the weld bead. The shield also is spaced-apart from the weld bead.
Disk device and method of manufacturing disk device
According to one embodiment, a disk device includes a disk-shaped recording medium, a head which processes data on the recording medium, and a housing accommodating the recording medium and the head. The housing includes a base with a side wall, and a cover having a welded portion welded to the side wall by laser welding. The welded portion includes a first welded portion welded to a first region of the side wall and having weld beads with a first shape, and a second welded portion welded to a second region of the side wall and having welded beads with a second shape different from the first shape.
SPINDLE MOTOR AND DISK DRIVE APPARATUS
A cup portion of a base member includes a cylindrical portion and a bottom plate portion. The cylindrical portion is arranged to be coaxial or substantially coaxial with a central axis extending in a vertical direction. The bottom plate portion is defined integrally with the cylindrical portion, and is arranged to close a lower portion of the cylindrical portion. A bearing mechanism is arranged inside of the cup portion. An outer circumferential surface of the bearing mechanism and an inner circumferential surface of the cylindrical portion have an adhesive layer arranged therebetween. In one preferred embodiment of the present invention, a communicating hole passing through the cylindrical portion in a direction that crosses an axial direction is defined in the vicinity of a junction of the cylindrical portion and the bottom plate portion. In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the base member includes a communicating hole passing through the bottom plate portion in the axial direction.
Base for protecting external welds of hermetically sealed electronic devices
Described herein is a hard disk drive that includes a base and a cover. The base includes a closed end, sidewalls, an open end, and one or more corner portions. The sidewalls extend from the closed end, and the open end is defined by the sidewalls. The closed end, sidewalls, and open end define an interior cavity of the hard disk drive. Each corner portion is proximate a respective intersection of the sidewalls and positioned exteriorly of the interior cavity. The cover is welded to the sidewalls over the open end by a weld bead such that the weld bead is positioned between the interior cavity and the corner portions. The weld bead hermetically seals the cover to the base. Furthermore, at least one of the corner portions is at least substantially flush with the cover.
