Provided is a high-capacity SSD that has the same form factor as 3.5-inch hard disk drives and has a structure where memory cards, such as standard M.2 SSDs, M.3 SSDs or nonstandard full-scale SSDs, are inserted in a horizontal sliding manner into an exterior having the same size as a 3.5-inch hard disk drive, and are provided in a multi-stage arrangement in the vertical direction. The SSD multiplier provides a high-capacity SSD case structure having a novel structure where a vertical backplane board is placed at a fixed position such that the case does not need to be disassembled even when an SSD memory card is replaced with another SSD memory card having a different length. Further provided is a case structure which can handle the various sizes of SSD memory cards that are used, where individual SSD memory cards have vibration resistance characteristics against external vibrations in XYZ-axis directions.

An isolated vibration assembly for a computing device includes a top assembly having a top plate. The assembly further includes a base assembly having a base plate that is generally parallel to and offset from the top plate. A partition assembly is positioned generally perpendicularly between the top plate and the bottom plate, with two partition plates defining an internal space. A plurality of vibration isolators is attached in an interspersed manner to one or more surfaces of the top plate, the base plate, or the two partition plates. A computing device is removably installed within the internal space, generating vibrations that are reduced when passing through the plurality of vibration isolators.

Drive box, storage system and data transfer method

A storage system for continuing I/O without affecting drive box addition to a host computer includes: a plurality of drive boxes for connecting to a computer device that transmits commands for data reads or writes; and a storage controller connected to the drive boxes. A first drive box provides a first storage region to the computer device. The storage controller manages correspondence between the first storage region and a physical storage region of the drives constituting the first storage region. The first drive box receives a command for the first storage region from the computer device and transfers the command to the storage controller. The storage controller generates a data transfer command including a data storage destination based on the address management table, and transfers the command to the first drive box. The first drive box then transfers the data transfer command to the second drive box.

The service tray is configured to releasably retain the media mover when the media mover is in the removable position so that the service tray and the media mover are movable as an integral unit out of and into the module housing. The service tray includes a tray body and at least one locking mechanism that is movable relative to the tray body between a retracted position when the at least one locking mechanism is positioned not to engage the media mover, and a fully extended position when the at least one locking mechanism is positioned to retain the media mover relative to the tray body.

A server box embodiment is disclosed that generally comprises an array of dummy HDDs that share a common set of universal disk drive components in a master components module, or power module. Each dummy HDDs is constructed without expensive onboard chipsets that control the normal functionality of a standard HDD. By sharing expensive chipsets in a master components module (power module) money can be saved in building and selling the dummy HDD server. Embodiments envision a power module possessing the needed chipset functionality that is missing in a dummy HDD. The power module can be made to move from dummy HDD to dummy HDD supplying the necessary chipset in a shared manner when data is being stored or retrieved for client or end-user.
