The radiation protection barrier includes at least one plain panel, each including an elongate frame, and a protective sheet attached to the elongate frame. The radiation protection barrier also includes at least one interventional panel coupled to the at least one plain panel, each of the at least one interventional panel(s) including an elongate frame, a protective sheet movably arranged on the elongate frame, a pair of sterile gloves arranged at an intermediate portion of the protective sheet, and a window configured on the protective sheet under the pair of sterile gloves. The radiation protection barrier further includes a plurality of wheel arrangements coupled to the elongate frames of the at least one plain and interventional panels.

Radiation shield

A radiation shield is adapted to be disposed transversely across a subject supported on the surface of a procedure table to protect medical professionals working in front of the radiation shield from radiation being applied to the subject behind the radiation shield. The radiation shield includes a movable barrier positional to extend transversely across a subject supported on the surface of a procedure table. The barrier has a generally vertically-oriented lower section; a generally forwardly sloping intermediate section; and a generally vertically-oriented upper section, forwardly offset from the plane of the lower section. A side section extends outwardly and rearwardly from one side of the lower, intermediate, and upper sections of the barrier. There is a recess in the lower edge of the lower section for accommodating a portion of the body of the subject on the surface of the procedure table, with portions of the lower section on each side of the recess projecting downwardly below the surface of the procedure table. A plurality of flexible radiopaque flaps depending from the perimeter of the recess block radiation from penetrating the gap between the subject and the perimeter of the recess.

Method of making electro-optic window by sputtering material to fill channels of a grid

An electro-optic window is provided, together with a method of manufacturing the window. The window (3) is made of a material substantially transparent to at least one of infra-red, visible and UV radiation and treated to have reduced RF/MICROWAVE transmission characteristics by the provision of a grid (1) set into at least one surface (2) thereof. The grid (1) is formed of a material selected to be either reflective or absorptive to RF/MICROWAVE radiation.

Certain exemplary embodiments can provide a system comprising a substantially transparent radiation shield, which comprises transparent ammonium metatungstate. The transparent ammonium metatungstate can have a density of greater than 1.5 gram/(cubic centimeter). The substantially transparent radiation shield can be installed on tanks and/or pressure vessels, used as a transparent radiation shield in medical shielding/devices, used as windows in glove boxes, and any application where effective radiation shielding is needed with transparency. The substantially transparent radiation shield can be used in one or more articles worn by a human.
