A surface cleaning apparatus comprises an air flow path extending from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet with an air treatment member positioned in the air flow path. The air treatment member comprises a dirt collection region which has an openable door. A pre-motor filter is positioned downstream of the chamber and upstream of the suction motor and a suction motor is provided in the air flow path downstream of the chamber. The air flow path comprises a downstream portion extending from the pre-motor filter to the suction motor, and, during an emptying mode of operation, the openable door is opened and the downstream portion of the air flow path is closed.

A surface cleaning apparatus comprises an air treatment chamber having a first end, an axially opposed second end, an axis extending between the first and second axially opposed ends and an axially extending air treatment chamber sidewall. The air treatment chamber air outlet is provided at the second opposed end and the first opposed end is moveably mounted between a closed position and an open position in which the air treatment chamber is open. The air treatment chamber has a stationary portion and an openable portion and the openable portion is moveably mounted between a closed position and an open position in which the air treatment chamber is open. When the openable portion is in the closed position, the openable portion and the stationery portion abut along peripheral edges that extend along a length of the air treatment chamber sidewall.

A hand vacuum cleaner has an air treatment member positioned in the air flow path downstream of a dirty air inlet. A motor and fan assembly produces an air flow through the air flow path. A handle is moveable between a first use position and a second use position.

A surface treatment apparatus may include an air flow path extending from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet and a main body. A suction motor may be provided in the air flow path. A cyclone bin assembly may be provided in the air flow path and may be removably mountable to the main body. A pre-motor filter chamber may be provided and may have a rear wall, a sidewall extending and an openable front wall opposite the rear wall and sealingly enclosing the pre-motor filter chamber. The pre-motor filter chamber may be disposed longitudinally between the cyclone bin assembly and the suction motor and the cyclone bin assembly may be positioned in front of at least a portion of the openable front wall of the pre-motor filter chamber. The front wall may be accessible when the cyclone bin assembly is removed from the main body.

A cleaner includes a dust bin, a motor housing disposed above and coupled to the dust bin, a handle coupled to the motor housing, a cyclone part disposed in the dust bin and configured to separate dust from air, a filter disposed in the dust bin and configured to filter air having separated the dust through the cyclone part, and a compression part configured to compress the dust in the dust bin. The compression part includes an operating part disposed in the motor housing and configured to move in a space between an outer portion of the filter part and an inner circumferential surface of the dust bin, a manipulation part disposed outside the motor housing and configured to be manipulated to move the operating part, and a transmission part that is disposed in the motor housing and connects the operating part and the manipulation part.

A vacuum cleaner including a dirty air inlet, a fluid flow path extending from the dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet, a fluid flow motor positioned in the fluid flow path, and a filter assembly positioned in the fluid flow path. The filter assembly including a first cylindrical filter and a second cylindrical filter nested within and removable from the first cylindrical filter. An inner diameter of the first cylindrical filter is smaller than an outer diameter of the second cylindrical filter such that the second cylindrical filter is compressed in order to be nested within the first cylindrical filter.

A hand vacuum cleaner has a cyclonic stage which comprises a stationary portion and an openable portion. The openable portion is rotatably mounted by a rotatable mount between a closed position in which a cyclone chamber is closed and an open position in which the cyclone chamber is open. The stationary portion comprises an upper portion of the first cyclonic stage and the openable portion comprises a lower portion of the first cyclonic stage. The rotatable mount is located at a rearward end of the openable portion.

A cleaner includes: a main body that forms an external shape; a dust container that is separably combined with the main body and stores dust separated from air; a dust container cover that is configured to open and close the dust container; a handle unit that is disposed behind the dust container; and an operating member that is configured to provide operation force to the dust container cover by moving in a first direction and to release a holding mechanism for preventing separation of the dust container from the main body by moving in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

A cleaner includes: a suction motor that generates suction force; a dust separation unit that separates dust from air sucked by the suction force; a motor housing that covers the suction motor; a flow guide that surrounds an outer side of the motor housing and guides air discharged from the dust separation unit to the suction motor; and a body that forms an external appearance by surrounding the flow guide and guides air discharged from the suction motor together with the flow guide.

A hand vacuum cleaner has an upper end, a lower end, an air flow passage, a main body with a handle, an air treatment chamber and a suction motor. The air treatment chamber has an air outlet, the air outlet comprising a rigid porous member and a filter media that is removably positionable in the rigid porous member. The air treatment chamber is moveable to an open position in which the air treatment chamber is emptyable, and the rigid porous member is moveable within the air treatment chamber to an open position in which the filter media is removable.
