The control device is further configured to: determine whether or not a takeover occurs during the automated driving control; set an upload target area including the takeover occurrence position, in a case where the takeover occurs during the automated driving control; and upload the map information regarding the upload target area to the external device. The external device updates the external map information based on the map information uploaded from the in-vehicle device.

Technologies for managing interoperable high definition (HD) maps for autonomous vehicles includes a HD map server to distribute interoperable HD map tiles to various autonomous vehicles, each of which may be configured to utilize proprietary HD map tiles of different propriety formats. As such, each of the autonomous vehicles is configured to translate the interoperable HD map tile to the proprietary format used by that particular vehicle. Additionally, each autonomous vehicle may submit crowd-sourced sensor data to the interoperable HD map server using a universal data set by converting the sensor data to a universal data structure.

A system for navigating a host vehicle includes at least one electronic horizon processor to access a map representative of at least a road segment on which the host vehicle travels or is expected to travel, wherein the map includes one or more splines representative of road features associated with the road segment, localize the host vehicle relative to a drivable path for the host vehicle represented among the one or more splines, determine a set of points associated with the one or more splines based on the localization of the host vehicle relative to the drivable path for the host vehicle, and generate a navigation information packet including information associated with the one or more splines and the determined set of points relative to the one or more splines.
