DEVICE FOR MEASURING A LINEAR POSITION

A measuring device has a magnetic circuit with a first and second armature elements that are positioned one on either side of an axis X and are manufactured with at least one ferromagnetic material. A magnet is situated between the armature elements such that a first pole of the magnet is positioned next to the first armature element and such that a second pole of the magnet is positioned next to the second armature element. A rod is arranged to be secured to a target and inserted between the armature elements to slide along the axis X. The rod has a variable section along its length such that a magnetic flux in the magnetic circuit depends on a linear position of the rod along the axis X. At least one sensor is arranged to measure the magnetic flux, which corresponds to the linear position of the target.

An electromechanical actuator includes a ground arm, an output arm rotatable about an axis of rotation relative to the ground arm and a position sensing arrangement to determine an angular position of the output arm relative to the ground arm. The position sensing arrangement includes a position sensor fixed at the ground arm. The position sensor is configured to sense magnetic reluctance. A sensed portion is located at the output arm proximate to the position sensor. The sensed portion includes a geometric variation in an output arm surface configured to vary a magnetic reluctance sensed at the position sensor as a function of angular position of the output arm relative to the ground arm.

ENCODER

A hybrid encoder comprising an inductive encoder and a magnetic encoder. The inductive encoder comprises a metal target having a ramped width, an inductor coil configured to generate an oscillating electromagnetic field, and an inductive sensing circuit configured to detect a manipulation of the oscillating electromagnetic field as the inductor coil moves relative to the metal target in a direction perpendicular to the width of the metal target. The magnetic encoder comprises at least one multipole magnet, and a magnetic sensing circuit configured to detect a change in magnetic field as the magnetic sensing circuit moves relative to the at least one multipole magnet.

Absolute position measurement using single magnet strip

An absolute position measurement system includes a multipole magnet comprising alternating magnetic poles extending along a multipole extension direction, the alternating magnetic poles generating a magnetic field. A magnetic sensor includes a first sensor element arrangement configured to generate a first signal in response to a first magnetic field component and a second sensor element arrangement configured to generate a second signal in response to a second magnetic field component. The absolute position measurement system is configured, as a position of the magnetic sensor relative to the multipole magnet changes, to generate a first oscillating sensor signal with decreasing first signal amplitude and to generate a second oscillating sensor signal with decreasing second signal amplitude based on the first and second signals. A processing circuit is configured to calculate an absolute position of the magnetic sensor based on the first oscillating sensor signal and the second oscillating sensor signal.
