In a preliminary measurement, a plurality of normal sections are measured and averaged, and by using the same as a reference, an actual measurement of Raman scattering is performed. In displaying a visible-light image with the CIGS image sensor, superimposed display is performed to specify sections where Raman scattering is detected, and superimposed display positions are corrected in association with focusing and zooming. The displaying of the visible-light image is continued even during the detection of Raman scattering.

Provided is a reliable or accurate optical detection method or such an optical imaging method. Also provided is an application technique using such a method. At least a part of an optical path starting from a light-emitting source or reaching a photodetector includes a plurality of optical paths. At a predetermined position of the optical path, beams of light after passing through the plurality of optical paths are mixed. This mixed light is used for optical detection or optical imaging. An optical-length difference among beams of light passing through the plurality of optical paths may be longer than the coherence length. Means for feed-backing predetermined characteristics of a target to the optical characteristics to be used for optical detection or optical imaging may be included. Such means may be used separately from the above. Such means may be applied to another technique, an application material or an application program.

Optical characteristic measuring apparatus and optical characteristic measuring method

An optical characteristic measuring apparatus includes an optical system, a detector, and an analysis unit. The optical system collects detection light incident from a sample. The detector spectrally disperses the detection light in plural times to generate plural pieces of detection data, the plural pieces of detection data indicating their respective spectra of detection light incident from the sample to the optical system with an optical distance between the sample and the optical system being different from each other. The analysis unit analyzes the spectrum indicated by the detection data to measure a predetermined optical characteristic of the sample. The analysis unit specifies a piece of the detection data to be used for measuring the optical characteristic based on intensity of the detection light in the plural pieces of detection data, and measures the optical characteristic based on the specified piece of the detection data.
