The present invention relates to the design, construction, and operation of a laser air-sampling multi-spectrometer; its operation with variable laser energy to simultaneously and/or sequentially perform spectrometric techniques of LAS, LEFS, RSS, and LIBS. The combined spectrometric operation will detect gas and particulate chemicals directly in a flowing stream of air sample and/or particulate chemicals on filter collected from the flowing stream of air sample.

A multispectral color imaging device including a light house module comprising a light source and a light intensity collection device surrounding the light source; an integrating sphere module including an integrating sphere, a light inlet on one side of the integrating sphere, a light outlet on the top of the integrating sphere, a sample holder gateway on the other side of the integrating sphere and a sample holder having access to the interior of the integrating sphere; and a filter wheel module including a camera, a filter wheel below the camera, and a lens below the filter wheel. The device and calibration methods of the present invention together improve the accuracy and stability of the measurement.

Methods for color sensing ambient light sensor calibration

An electronic device may be provided with a color sensing ambient light sensor. The color sensing ambient light sensor may measure the color of ambient light. Control circuitry in the electronic device may use information from the color sensing ambient light sensor in adjusting a display in the electronic device or taking other action. The color sensing ambient light sensor may have light detectors with different spectral responses. A test system may be used to calibrate the color sensing light sensor. The test system may have a tunable light source with light-emitting diodes that are turned on in sequence while gathering measured responses from the detectors. Numerical optimization techniques may be used to produce final versions of the spectral responses for the light detectors from the measured responses and corresponding calibration data that is stored in the electronic device.

A color measurement system is provided that includes an integrating sphere having at least one specular component included (SCI) sensor configured to output a signal in response to light incident thereupon and at least one specular component excluded (SCE) sensor configured to output a signal in response to light incident thereupon, a sample port, a SCE port, a light source configured to direct a beam of light into the sphere and provide illumination at the sample port and a specular component excluded port. The system also includes a processor having a memory and configured by code to activate the light source so as to cause a beam of light to be directed into the sphere and provide illumination to the sample port. The processor is also configured to receive a signal output by the SCI sensor and a signal output by the SCE sensor. Furthermore, the processor is configured to obtain at least one measurement coefficient value and generate a corrected SCE measurement value using at least the SCI sensor value, the SCE sensor value and the obtained measurement coefficient. The processor is configured to output at least the corrected SCE measurement value and the SCI measurement value.
