System and method for detecting substances from spectral signatures

A system and method for detecting or identifying substances based on spectral response signatures is provided. The system utilizes IR imagery, singularly or stored in a database, in operative communication with a database or library of known spectral response signatures. The system correlates the spectral response signature detected, or inherent, in an image or image library, with the set of known signatures in the spectral database. The system generates a report of the substances or chemical compounds present in at least a portion of the image. The system can also query a database of IR products for an area of interest, and return results in a report or via an interactive tool, for IR products containing specific IR spectral results.

Land analysis system using drone-captured data

A land analysis system uses drone-captured images to detect plant health and/or soil moisture levels at a site. For example, the system instructs a drone to fly along a flight path, capture images of the land below, and measure altitude data. The system processes the images using, for example, artificial intelligence, to identify locations at which plant material may be present. The system then further processes the images to identify the plant health of the plant material at the identified locations. The system further uses the altitude data to determine the strata of plants at the identified locations. Optionally, the system can further process the images to identify the soil moisture levels at the identified locations.

The present art applies a unique conceptual model that uses image statistics of top-of-atmosphere reflectance to assess and then reverse atmospheric effects. The workflow first calibrates the method for an Earth observation satellite pre-operationally. Then, for operational conversion of each image of the satellite, the degree of atmospheric effect is mapped across an image to be converted and then reversed to deliver surface reflectance data for each pixel of the image. The resulting surface reflectance images have haze and thin clouds removed, are clarified for viewing and appropriate for automated analyses.

A signal processing apparatus, method, and program that enable growth conditions of vegetation to be easily confirmed are disclosed. An NDVI relative value calculation provides a relative value to an average of a vegetation index indicative of growth conditions of grass, on the basis of a sensing image. An image indicative of the growth conditions of an inspection object can be displayed on the basis of the relative value. Further, an NDVI average calculation section calculates an NDVI average obtained by averaging normalized difference vegetation indexes NDVI indicative of the growth conditions of the grass in the entire grass, and a correlation coefficient calculation section calculates a correlation coefficient that matches the NDVI average with a predetermined NDVI specified value. The NDVI relative value calculation applies the correlation coefficient in providing the relative value in each measurement unit in which a measurement is performed on the grass.

Technology is provided for identifying concrete and/or asphalt (or other materials) in a multispectral satellite image that has multiple bands including a first set of bands from a first sensor and a second set of bands from a second sensor. The second sensor is at a different position on a focal plane as compared to the first sensor so that a single location depicted in the multispectral image will have been sensed at different times by the first sensor and the second sensor. The system identifies moving vehicles in the multispectral image and subsequently identifies sample pixels in the multispectral image that are near the moving vehicles. These pixels are high confidence samples of roads made of concrete and/or asphalt. Additional pixels are identified in the multispectral image having spectral characteristics that are within a threshold of spectral characteristics of the sample pixels. These additional pixels also depict concrete and/or asphalt.
