CLINICAL SPECTROPHOTOMETER FOR GENERAL CHEMISTRY, IMMUNO-ASSAY AND NUCLEIC ACID DETECTION
The single-use disposable spectrophotometer described herein can measure one or more blood chemistry analytes from a drop of whole blood. A passive filtration system takes whole blood and delivers plasma along with a dissolved reporter molecule to one or more spectrophotometers which can operate with narrow band optical spectrum centered on an optical detection frequency. The spectrophotometer detects the changes in absorption of the plasma as a result of a chemistry reaction to determine the concentration or activity of one or more analytes.
Organism identification
A system for the identification of micro-organisms includes an irradiation unit adapted to sequentially provide coherent electromagnetic radiation of one or more wavelengths along a common optical path. A holder is adapted to retain a substrate having a surface adapted for growth of a micro-organism colony. A beamsplitter is adapted to direct the coherent electromagnetic radiation from the common optical path towards the retained substrate. An imager is arranged opposite the beamsplitter from the retained substrate and is adapted to obtain images of backward-scattered light patterns from the micro-organism colony irradiated by the respective wavelengths of the directed coherent electromagnetic radiation. Some examples provide radiation of multiple wavelengths and include an imager arranged optically downstream of the retained substrate to obtain images of forward-scattered light patterns from the micro-organism colony irradiated by the wavelengths of radiation. Organism identification methods are also described.

Optical filter for an optical sensor device
An optical system includes an optical element and an optical filter with a first set of channels and a second set of channels respectively associated with a first region and a second region of the optical filter. The optical element causes first light beams and second light beams associated with a subject to respectively fall incident on the first region within a first incidence angle range and on the second region within a second incidence angle range. A first channel, of the first set of channels, passes, based on the first incidence angle range, a set of the first light beams that are associated with a first subrange of a particular wavelength range. A second channel, of the second set of channels, passes, based on the second incidence angle range, a set of the second light beams that are associated with a second subrange of the particular wavelength range.
System and method for monitoring soil composition at different depths within a field
A system for monitoring soil composition within a field may have a ground-engaging tool configured to engage soil within a field as an implement moves across the field. The system may further have a sensor configured to generate data indicative of a soil composition within the field, where the sensor is movable relative to the ground-engaging tool while the implement moves across the field such that the sensor generates data indicative of the soil composition at different depths within the field. Additionally, the system may have a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor, with the controller being configured to determine the soil composition at the different depths within the field based at least in part on the data received from the sensor.
