METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE LINEAR AC ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE OF A STEEL PIPE AND DEVICE FOR IMPLEMENTING SUCH A METHOD
A method for determining the linear electrical resistance in AC mode of a steel pipeline, including the steps of generating in a portion of the pipeline an induced current by means of an induction coil centered on a longitudinal axis of the pipeline and traversed by an AC current. The coil is housed in a yoke made of ferromagnetic material in order to confine the magnetic field to a predefined surface of the pipeline portion, measuring the active power dissipated by the pipeline portion subjected to the magnetic field, measuring the amplitude of the produced magnetic field, and determining the linear electrical resistance in AC mode of the pipeline portion from the measurements of the dissipated active power and the amplitude of the induced magnetic field. A device is provided for implementing such a method.

The first terminal of the electric signal source is connected to the first end of the first electric conductor and arranged to induce an RF electromagnetic wave in the fluid conduit by supplying an input electric signal to the first end of the first electric conductor. The first and second ports of the signal detector are connected to the first and second ends of the first electric conductor, respectively.
Determining material composition of cookware in induction heating systems
Induction cooktops and operational methods are provided herein. A method of determining material composition of cookware on an induction cooktop can include determining that a piece of cookware is on the induction cooktop, inducing a current within the piece of cookware with an induction coil of the induction cooktop, and obtaining a peak induction coil current, a smoothed input line current, and a phase shift of current flowing in the induction coil. The method can further include comparing the peak induction coil current, the smoothed input line current, and the phase shift each to a set of predetermined ranges, and determining candidate material compositions for the cookware based on the comparing of each of the peak induction coil current, the smoothed input line current, and the phase shift.
EXTRACTING MINED ORE, MINERALS OR OTHER MATERIALS USING SENSOR-BASED SORTING
A method of analyzing minerals received within a mining shovel bucket includes collecting data associated with ore received in the bucket, where the bucket includes at least one active sensor, where the ore includes one or more mineral, and where the ore is within a field of the active sensor. The method further includes determining a content of the minerals using the data, transmitting information relating to the content of the minerals to a decision support system, and sorting or processing the ore based on an output of the decision support system. Collecting data associated with the ores may include generating source signals, applying the source signals to the active sensor, collecting a response from the active sensor, and comparing the response with a reference or threshold. Other features are disclosed.

System and Method for Measuring Soil Electrical Conductivity
A probe relies on multiple sensors, which are capable of directly measuring soil moisture, temperature, and electrical conductivity (EC). The proposed probe uses radio frequency (“RF”) transformers to sense changes in load by the primary of the transformer, which will make direct contact with the soil. The probe contemplated herein, accurately measures EC values in liquids, and water saturated soils, by having direct contact with the medium in which the measurements are made. The measurements yield absolute EC, in any soil type.
