Moisture Detection and Indicator System and Method of Use while Maintaining Roof Membrane Integrity
A system, method and apparatus for detecting moisture leaks in roofs and for providing a visual alert regarding such leaks, and which does not require puncturing or compromise of the roof membrane, comprises a dual part moisture detection and indicator system which comprises a wicking sensor, a wicking portion, a non-electronic trigger portion below the membrane, which is enabled to receive a non-electronic signal from the wicking portion and a non-electronic indicator portion above the membrane which is enabled to receive a non-electronic signal from the trigger portion and to thereafter produce a notification of a leak.
Soil moisture sensor
A soil moisture sensor includes a capacitive probe configured to be inserted into soil, a series RLC circuit electrically coupled to the capacitive probe, a microcontroller configured to determine the capacitance value of the soil and determine the moisture content of the soil from the capacitance value of the soil.
Integrated water detection and ejection for ceramic substrates
A water detecting and ejecting sensor device includes a housing, a ceramic substrate, an integrated circuit and a sensor. The housing includes a cavity and the integrated circuit is disposed on a ceramic substrate. The sensor is disposed on the integrated circuit. The ceramic substrate includes one or more ports to expose the cavity to a surrounding environment, and each port includes at least two mesh layers.
HUMIDITY SENSOR
A humidity sensor is provided. The humidity sensor includes a flexible substrate, a moisture absorption prevention layer covering the flexible substrate, a dielectric layer on the moisture absorption prevention layer, hydrophobic patterns on the dielectric layer, a first electrode between the moisture absorption prevention layer and the dielectric layer, and a second electrode spaced apart from the first electrode between the moisture absorption prevention layer and the dielectric layer. The first electrode has a thickness greater than that of the moisture absorption prevention layer.
WATER HEATER LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM
The disclosure reveals a system for detecting moisture or water in a particular location. The system may incorporate a moisture detector having a control module connected to an appliance, a moisture detection circuit connected to the control module, and a voltage source connected to the moisture detection circuit and to the control module. The voltage source and the moisture detection circuit may provide voltage levels to the control module when the moisture detection circuit detects dry or wet conditions, or conditions between those conditions. A voltage level to the control module may indicate whether the appliance, such as a water heater, a washing machine, or a dish washer, has a leak. If the leak is deemed by a voltage level from the circuit to be worthy of concern, then a display, an alarm, message, or other notice mechanism may indicate an issue or what action needs to be taken.
Wetness sensor using RF circuit with frangible link
A wetness sensor includes a substrate that carries a tuned RF circuit. The circuit includes a conductive pattern applied to the substrate, a capacitor, and a jumper all disposed on a same side of the substrate. The conductive pattern includes an inductive coil, and an inner and outer terminus. The jumper electrically couples the inner terminus to the outer terminus. The jumper also includes a frangible link which, when contacted by a target fluid, produces a drastic change in the operation of the RF circuit. The drastic change can be interpreted by a remote reader as a “wet” condition. Contact of the frangible link by the target fluid may change the impedance or resistance of the RF circuit by at least a factor of 5, 10, 100, or more, and/or may cause the frangible link to disintegrate to produce an open circuit, and/or may substantially render the RF circuit inoperative.
Liquid and plate sensors for microplate injector system
In a sample analyzing apparatus, an injector assembly injects a reagent onto a sample, and luminescent light from the sample is transmitted to a detector. The assembly may be movable toward and away from the sample. The assembly may include one or more needles that communicate with one or more reservoirs supplying reagent or other liquids. The assembly may include a light guide for communicating with the detector. A cartridge may be provided in which the assembly, one or more reservoirs, and one or more pumps are disposed. The cartridge and/or the apparatus may be configured for enabling rinsing or priming to be done outside the apparatus. The cartridge and/or the apparatus may include one or more types of sensors configured for detecting, for example, the presence of liquid or bubbles in one or more locations of the apparatus and/or the cartridge.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING POWER TO ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Methods and apparatuses for detecting when an electronic device, preferably a portable electronic device (PED) in some embodiments, has been exposed to moisture, and inhibiting the flow of electrical power to the electronic device when the moisture is too high or increasing too fast are disclosed. Embodiments sample air within the device, measure the moisture in the sampled air, inhibit the connection of electrical power to the device if the moisture exceeds a threshold, and permit the connection of electrical power to the device if the moisture is below a threshold. Some embodiments measure the moisture in the ambient air to improve effectiveness. Other embodiments allow resetting of a tripped condition. Other embodiments include constant sampling of air from within the device to assist drying, and inhibiting application of power to the device until the device is sufficiently dry. Still other embodiments interrupt power from the battery within the device.
Reservoir Monitoring Using Galvanically Excited Transient Electromagnetic Fields
Methods, systems, and devices for characterizing an anomalous fluid body in an earth formation using measurements in a borehole intersecting the formation. Methods include galvanically exciting a transient electric field in the earth formation which interacts with an anomalous fluid body in the earth formation remote from the borehole; galvanically receiving a corresponding transient electromagnetic (TEM) signal; and using at least one processor to estimate a value of a parameter of the anomalous fluid body using the corresponding transient signal.
