Method for acoustic power scalable charge-redistribution ultrasonic system with on-chip aberration compensation for portable ultrasonic applications
The present disclosure is generally directed to a method for driving an ultrasonic transducer. The method includes coupling a driving electrode and a ground electrode of the ultrasonic transducer to a power supply and a ground, respectively, during a first time period based on a received drive signal. The method further includes decoupling the driving electrode and the ground electrode of the ultrasonic transducer from the power supply and the ground, respectively, to float the driving electrode and the ground electrode of the ultrasonic transducer during a second time period based on the received drive signal to store a charge between the driving electrode to the ground electrode.
Damage detection using two-stage Compressive Sensing
Described herein are Compressive Sensing algorithms developed for automated reduction of NDE/SHM data from pitch-catch ultrasonic guided waves as well as a methodology using Compressive Sensing at two stages in the data acquisition and analysis process to detect damage: (1) temporally undersampled sensor signals from (2) spatially undersampled sensor arrays, resulting in faster data acquisition and reduced data sets without any loss in damage detection ability.
Photoacoustic imaging device and oxygen saturation measurement method
Provided is a photoacoustic imaging device including: a light source unit which generates an ultra-broadband pulsed laser beam and outputs the ultra-broadband pulsed laser beam; a filter unit which filters narrowband pulsed laser beams having predetermined different wavelength bands from the ultra-broadband pulsed laser beam to selectively extract the narrowband pulsed laser beams and outputs the narrowband pulsed laser beams as pulsed laser beams for photoacoustic imaging; and a PA (photoacoustic) unit which receives the pulsed laser beams for photoacoustic imaging to irradiate a measurement object with the pulsed laser beams for photoacoustic imaging and receives photoacoustic signals generated from the measurement object.
Automated TFM grid resolution setup tools
Examples of the present subject matter provide techniques for calculating amplitude fidelity (AF) for a variety of grid resolutions using a single TFM image of a specified flaw. Thus, the grid resolution may be set so that it yields a desired AF using a calculation process without performing a blind iterative process. Moreover, examples of the present subject matter may measure AF in more than one axis, improving accuracy.
Contoured electrode for capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer
Aspects of this disclosure relate to a capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) with a contoured electrode. In certain embodiments, the CMUT has a contoured electrode. The electrode may be non-planar to correspond to a deflected shape of the outer plate. A change in distance between the electrode and the plate after deflection may be greater than a minimum threshold across the width of the CMUT.
DETERMINING ORE CHARACTERISTICS
Techniques for processing ore include the steps of causing an imaging capture system to record a plurality of images of a stream of ore fragments en route from a first location in an ore processing facility to a second location in the ore processing facility; correlating the plurality of images of the stream of ore fragments with at least one or more characteristics of the ore fragments using a machine learning model that includes a plurality of ore parameter measurements associated with the one or more characteristics of the ore fragments; determining, based on the correlation, at least one of the one or more characteristics of the ore fragments; and generating, for display on a user computing device, data indicating the one or more characteristics of the ore fragments or data indicating an action or decision based on the one or more characteristics of the ore fragments.
Turbine blade testing device and testing method thereof
According to one embodiment, a testing device of a turbine blade includes: a non-compressive elastic medium brought into close contact with a platform of the turbine blade in a state fastened to a turbine rotor; a probe which has piezoelectric elements arranged in an array and transmits ultrasound waves toward a fastening portion of the turbine blade through the elastic medium and receives echo waves; and a display portion for imaging an internal region of the fastening portion on the basis of the echo waves and displaying the same.
Remotely operated mobile stand-off measurement and inspection system
A self-contained, remotely operated, mobile measurement system for stand-off inspection of large target objects located at sites distant from an operations center of a distributed inspection system. In accordance with one embodiment, the system comprises a mobile platform with on-board instrumentation capable of making dimensional measurements in the local coordinate system of the target object. The system comprises multiple hardware and software components networked to a control interface that enables the operator at the operations center to teleoperate the equipment, including driving the mobile platform to a region of interest, calibrating the on-board local positioning system, acquiring measurement and image data, and communicating with on-site personnel if needed.
Ultrasonic-Based System for Detection of Metallic Security Threats Containers on Cargo
Proactively identifying and interdicting transport of commodities associated with illicit nuclear materials and nuclear weapons shielded by high Z-number materials, such as lead, can help ensure effective nuclear nonproliferation. In an embodiment, a method for imaging an object on a surface includes exciting a surface with ultrasonic excitation from an ultrasonic transmitter having an ultrasonic transducer in contact with the surface. The method further includes imaging, at a processor, a two-dimensional representation of the object acoustically coupled to the surface based on the ultrasonic reflections received at an ultrasonic receiver via a receiving transducer in contact with the surface. This method can complement existing x-ray screening systems to increase the odds of detecting radiological materials.
ULTRASOUND COUPLING MEDIUM DETECTION
A method of determining a status of ultrasound coupling medium for performing an ultrasound scan for providing an ultrasound image including plural scanlines (N.sub.l) is disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes operating an ultrasound device to capture an image frame including plural scanlines (N.sub.l), each scanline having an associated sample set (s) of intensity values; processing a subset of the associated sample set (s) of values for each scanline to determine a first summation for each scanline; processing plural sets of corresponding intensity values from each of plural scanlines located within a range of a respective scanline to determine a set of difference values for each respective scanline; processing each set of difference values to determine a second summation for each scanline; and generating a status for the ultrasound coupling medium according to a relationship between each of the first summations and each of the associated second summations.
