ION EXCHANGER
An ion exchanger includes a case and a cartridge. The case has an opening open upward. The cartridge is detachably attached to the case through the opening and includes a circumferential wall, a top wall, a lower opening, and a porous body. The cartridge accommodates an ion exchange resin. The porous body closes the lower opening of the cartridge and allows coolant to pass through while not allowing the ion exchange resin to pass through. A discharge hole that allows air inside the cartridge to be discharged out of the cartridge is formed in at least one of the top wall of the cartridge or a portion of the circumferential wall of the cartridge that is opposed to the inner circumferential surface of the case body.
Parallel modules for in-line recharging of sorbents using alternate duty cycles
Parallel modules for in-line recharging of sorbent materials using alternate duty cycles for a sorbent cartridge. The sorbent cartridge can have two or more modules contained therein having connectors connecting each of the modules. One or more of the modules can be reusable and the sorbent materials therein can be recharged.
Reagent wells containing lyophilized reagents
System, apparatuses, and methods for performing automated reagent-based analysis are provided. Also provided are methods for automated attachment of a cap to a reaction receptacle, and automated removal of a cap from a capped reaction receptacle.
Multiple tube devices and methods of manufacture and use
Provided in part herein are multiple-tube devices that contain a region of reduced wall thickness, which devices facilitate biological fluid processing and analysis. Also provided in part herein are methods of manufacturing and using such devices.
Type of extraction cell for a centrifugal partition chromatograph, as well as a centrifugal partition chromatograph containing such an extraction cell
The object of the invention relates to an extraction cell (100) used in a centrifugal partition chromatograph, which has a cell wall (120) determining a closed extraction chamber (150), as well as an inlet (115) and an outlet (140) ensuring the fluid connection between the extraction chamber (150) and the space outside of the extraction cell (100) formed on essentially opposite parts of the cell wall (120). The extraction cell (100) according to the invention is constructed asymmetrically from the point of view of the reversibility of the direction of flow used when the centrifugal partition chromatograph is in operation.
Analytical tool and analytical system
An analytical tool for use in analysis of a sample is provided. The analytical tool includes a first unit and a second unit. The first unit has an analysis portion where analysis is performed. The second unit, configured to be coupled with the first unit, has a liquid reservoir for confining a particular liquid used for the analysis of the sample. When the first unit and the second unit are coupled, a fluid passage for conducting the particular liquid from the liquid reservoir into the first unit is formed by only a part of the first unit, or only a part of the second unit, or a combination of respective parts of the first unit and the second unit.
MICROFLUIDIC DEVICE
A microfluidic device has a cavity in which a functionalized mesh is arranged in a layered configuration to provide a high surface area. The cavity is housed in a body that is easily configured for sample flow to concentrate the analyte, heat release of the analyte from the mesh, and elution of the released analyte. The microfluidic device can be used in a variety of applications by functionalizing the mesh with a suitable affinity media.
Pre-assembled separation columns
There is provided an integrated system for liquid separation, such as LC, CE, affinity chromatography, and ion exchange chromatography, comprising a column and end-fittings embedded in a plastic material, such as a thermoplastic polymer. The system may further comprise an electrospray emitter directly connected with the outlet of the column, wherein a substantial part of the emitter is covered with the polymer material. There is also provided a method by which a separation column along with the accompanying end fittings for connection with adjacent liquid conduits is embedded in a polymer matrix. This configuration e.g. ensures that the factory-made, correct attachment of the fittings to the column is preserved (since the matrix prevents further user intervention, accidental or otherwise). Accordingly, the responsibility for the correct attachment of the fittings is shifted from the end user to the manufacturer.
Automated sample fractionation prior to mass spectrometric analysis
Systems, apparatus, methods, and kits are provided for automated mass spectrometric analysis of small volumes of liquid samples, such as biological samples. The systems, apparatus, and kits may be used in facilities where high throughput of samples, as well as reliable and repeatable assay results with little training of staff, are needed. Such facilities include hospital emergency wards.
