A dishwasher including a tub; a door to open and close the tub; and an automatic detergent dispenser including a storage compartment configured so that a plurality of solid detergents are stackable in the storage compartment so as to be loaded in a first direction, and to be dischargeable in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, when the tub is closed by the door, a storage compartment cover configured to open and close the storage compartment, and a sealing member configured to form a seal between the storage compartment cover and the storage compartment when the storage compartment is closed by the storage compartment cover, wherein the storage compartment is configured to be open in a third direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction when the storage compartment is opened by the storage compartment cover.

The dispenser (1) is configured to couple with a container (100) containing at least one chemical agent (101) and to dispense the chemical agent (101) when the dispenser (1) has been coupled with the container (100). The container (100) may be introduced into a receiving space (5) of the dispenser (1) into a coupling position. The dispenser (1) has a sensor (7) for the contact-free detection of container information or container content information and an occupancy sensor (8), which detects whether a container (100) that has been inserted into the receiving space (5) is in the coupling position. Only when the container (100) is in the coupling position, then the occupancy sensor (8) will activate the sensor (7) for the contact-free detection of container information or container content information, which detects in the activated state the container information or container content information and examines the correctness thereof. If this is positive, the sensor (7) initiates a release of the dispenser (1) into an operational state, wherein the chemical agent (101) may be dispensed from the container (100).

A dosing device includes an electrically controlled valve device driven at each operating cycle of the machine with a first short pulse for the actuation of another function and then with a subsequent second long pulse to put the dosing chamber in communication with the main chamber and then causing the dispensing of a dose of washing agent from the dosing chamber to the washing chamber. The valve device controls the communication between the intermediate chamber and the dosing chamber whereby the first impulse is able to put the intermediate chamber in communication with the dosing chamber for a short time, causing a partial discharge of the air bubble from the intermediate chamber to the dosing chamber and a corresponding increase in the amount of washing agent contained in the intermediate chamber, and the second impulse is adapted to put the intermediate chamber in communication with the dosing chamber for a longer time, adapted to allow the storage of a dose of washing agent in the dosing chamber and, after exhausting the second impulse, the dispensing of the dose of washing agent stored in the dosing chamber.

A dishwasher has a treating chamber for receiving dishes for treatment according to an automatic cycle of operation and a dispensing system for storing and dispensing a treating chemistry to the treating chamber during the cycle of operation. The dishwasher may dispense a treating chemistry when a temperature of a liquid in the treating chamber satisfies a predetermined temperature threshold. The temperature of the liquid may be maintained to satisfy the predetermined temperature threshold for a predetermined period of time based on the treating chemistry.

A method of cleaning soiled ware in a dishwasher, the method having the step of delivering a phosphate-free cleaning composition using a multi-dosing system, the composition comprising bleach, metal bleach catalyst and a complexing agent and wherein the complexing agent is slowly released as compared to the bleach catalyst.

A dishwasher has a treating chamber for receiving dishes for treatment according to an automatic cycle of operation and a dispensing system for storing and dispensing a treating chemistry to the treating chamber during the cycle of operation. The dishwasher may dispense a treating chemistry when a temperature of a liquid in the treating chamber satisfies a predetermined temperature threshold. The temperature of the liquid may be maintained to satisfy the predetermined temperature threshold for a predetermined period of time based on the treating chemistry.

The invention relates to a method of automatic dishwashing, comprising: placing soiled wares inside a cleaning volume; providing a first cleaning composition comprising a bleach and a second cleaning composition different from the first composition; and delivering the first composition and the second composition separately to the cleaning volume to contact the soiled wares, wherein: the first composition is delivered to the cleaning volume as a mist and the second composition is delivered to the cleaning volume as a jet; and the first and second compositions are delivered to the cleaning volume at a temperature below 100 C. The invention also relates to a dishwasher and a kit for use in the inventive method.

A metering device for dispensing shaped cleaning-agent bodies into a washing chamber of a domestic dishwasher, comprising a reservoir, which is designed to hold a filling of the shaped cleaning-agent bodies and has a transfer opening in a region of the bottom of the reservoir, and a transport device for actively transporting the shaped cleaning-agent bodies from the transfer opening of the reservoir into the washing chamber. In addition, the metering device comprises a lifting device for raising the bottom of the reservoir at least in parts, wherein a discharge slant toward the transfer opening is produced at least in parts or the downgrade of an existing discharge slant is increased at least in parts by the raising of the bottom.

A household appliance having a treating chamber in which is received an article for treatment, a treating chemistry dispenser configured to receive a unit dose container for the treating chemistry, and a controller for executing at least one cycle of operation and a method of operating the household appliance to physically alter a unit dose container in conjunction with a cycle of operation and sensing same.
