Heating assembly for a washing appliance

An open loop drying system includes an intake conduit and an exhaust conduit. The intake conduit and the exhaust conduit are each in fluid communication with an ambient environment. The open loop drying system also includes a heat pipe heat exchanger. The heat pipe heat exchanger includes a condenser section in operative communication with the intake conduit upstream of a wet chamber and an evaporator section in operative communication with the exhaust conduit downstream of the wet chamber. The open loop drying system may be provided in a dishwashing appliance.

APPLIANCE DRYING DUCT

An apparatus for removing moisture as liquid from moisture-laden air in an appliance is provided. The apparatus includes a body that defines a channel extending from a first position to a second position and a serpentine flow path between the first position and the second position that operates to redirect the moisture-laden air to remove the liquid from the moisture-laden air. The body includes an opening at the serpentine flow path that is closed when the apparatus is secured to the wall of the appliance. In operation, the body cooperates with the wall to cause the moisture-laden air entering the channel at the first position through an inlet opening in the wall to pass into the serpentine flow path to remove the liquid from the moisture-laden air before the liquid exits the channel at the second position through an outlet opening in the wall.

A dishwashing appliance includes a tub defining a wash chamber, a water storage chamber, an inlet defined in the tub and providing fluid communication into the wash chamber, and a heat pipe heat exchanger. The heat pipe heat exchanger includes a sealed casing, a working fluid contained within the sealed casing, a condenser section, and an evaporator section. The condenser section is in operative communication with the inlet upstream of the wet chamber. The dishwashing appliance also includes a fluid circulation system configured to deliver fluid to the wash chamber from the water storage chamber. The fluid circulation system includes a spray nozzle configured to spray wash fluid onto the evaporator section of the heat pipe heat exchanger.

DRYING ASSEMBLY FOR A WASHING APPLIANCE

A drying system includes a tub defining a wet chamber with an outlet defined in the tub. The drying system also includes a heat exchanger comprising a plurality of heat pipes. Each heat pipe of the plurality of heat pipes has an evaporator section and a condenser section. The evaporator sections of the plurality of heat pipes define an evaporator section of the heat exchanger. The condenser sections of the plurality of heat pipes of the heat exchanger define a condenser section of the heat exchanger. The evaporator section of the heat exchanger is in fluid communication with the outlet to receive a flow of humid air from the outlet. The dishwashing appliance also includes an inlet defined in the tub. The inlet is configured to receive a flow of dry air from the condenser section of the heat exchanger.
