The integrated system generally has: a frame; a reagent dispensing station, a sample digestion station, a sample cooling station, a sample normalization station and a sample filtration station within the frame; a vessel manipulation unit having a vessel manipulating member displacing the vessels containing the samples between the reagent dispensing station, the sample digestion station, the sample cooling station, the sample normalization station and the sample filtration station; and a controller communicatively coupled to the vessel manipulation unit, the controller having a processor and a memory having stored thereon instructions which when executed by the processor displace the vessels containing the samples from one station to another.

The large-scale sample carrier buffer stores a plurality of the sample carriers. The analyzer coupling unit is couplable to an analyzer. The analyzer coupling unit incorporates a sample carrier sub-buffer. The sample carrier sub-buffer is capable of storing the sample carriers by an amount smaller than an amount of the large-scale sample carrier buffer. The conveyance managing unit has a function of controlling a sample carrier conveyance destination. The conveyance managing unit is configured to determine an amount of the sample carriers supplied to the sample carrier sub-buffer via the large-scale sample carrier buffer according to a storage situation of the sample carriers in the sample carrier sub-buffer.

Provided is a specimen processing system which can contribute to space saving. The specimen processing system includes a put-in module which puts a specimen on a put-in tray in a holder, a housing module which houses the specimen from the holder in a housing tray, and a stock module which stocks the holder, in which an empty holder which is generated because the specimen is housed is directly conveyed to the put-in module without being conveyed to the stock module and is used for putting a new specimen therein.

SAMPLE RACK HANDLER AND ROTATION ASSEMBLY FOR A SAMPLE ANALYSIS SYSTEM

An embodiment is a sample analysis system for analyzing a sample that includes at least one test device for analyzing the sample. The system also includes a rack handler operable to move a sample from a first location to a second location along a travel path. The rack handler has a rotation assembly including a) an engagement element for engagement with the sample rack, and b) a motor coupled to the engagement element and is operable to cause rotation of the engagement element. The rotation assembly rotates the sample rack from a first orientation into a second orientation along the travel path when the engagement element engages the sample rack.

SAMPLE RACK FOR SAMPLE ANALYSIS SYSTEM

An embodiment of the disclosure is a rack adapted to engage a rack handler. The rack includes a rack body. The rack body has a bottom, a top opposite the bottom, and a receptacle that extends from the top toward the bottom. The receptacle is sized to receive the sample collection unit. The rack body has a first interior surface that extends from the bottom toward the top, and a second interior surface that extends from the bottom toward the top. The second interior surface is opposite to the first interior surface so as to at least partially define a slot along the bottom. The rack body also includes an interference groove in the slot along at least one of the first interior surface and the second interior surface. The slot and the interference groove are sized to engage a portion of the rack handler.
