There are described herein methods and system for generating an inspection image of an object from radiographic imaging. The method comprises obtaining a plurality of digital images of the object positioned between a radiation source and a photon beam detector, the digital images taken at different object-detector distances or source-detector distances to create unique grain diffraction patterns in each one of the digital images, and forming the inspection image from image features common to the digital images at a common scale and removing the unique grain diffraction patterns.

System and method for colorizing a radiograph from cabinet X-ray systems

The present disclosure relates to the field of a cabinet X-ray incorporating an X-ray tube, an X-ray detector, and a real-time camera, either high definition or standard resolution, for the production of organic and non-organic images and a system and method wherein the attained X-ray radiograph may be colorized to designate different densities. In particular, the disclosure relates to a system and method with corresponding apparatus for capturing a real-time image simultaneously with the X-ray image allowing a cabinet X-ray unit to attain and optimize images either in grayscale or colorized with exact orientation of the 2 images and display the resultant images overlaid/blended upon each other and then saved and transmitted in various formats, i.e. .jpeg., .tiff, DICOM, etc.

Backscattered electron detector, apparatus of charged-particle beam such as electron microscope comprising the same, and method thereof

The present invention provides a backscattered electron (BSE) detector comprising two or more detection components that are electrically isolated from each other. Each of the detection components includes a single continuous top metal layer configured for directly receiving incident backscattered electrons and for backscattered electron to penetrate therethrough. The thickness of one of the top metal layers is different from the thickness of another one of the top metal layers. The BSE detector can be used in an apparatus of charged-particle beam for imaging a sample material. Signals from the detection components having top metal layers of different thicknesses can be inputted into different signal amplifier circuits to get different energy bands of BSE image.

Method of detecting a defect and apparatus for performing the same

In a method of detecting a defect, a region of a substrate may be primarily scanned using a first electron beam to detect a first defect. A remaining region of the substrate, which may be defined by excluding a portion in which the first defect may be positioned from the region of the substrate, may be secondarily scanned using a second electron beam to detect a second defect. Thus, the portion with the defect may not be scanned in a following scan process so that a scanning time may be remarkably decreased.

Embodiments may include methods, systems, and apparatuses for care area based swath speed for throughput and sensitivity improvement. A method may comprise receiving scan region of a die. The scan region of the die may have a first care area at a controller configured to control an inspection tool, wherein the inspection tool includes a stage having the die disposed thereon. The method may then include scanning a first portion of the scan region at a fast feed rate and the first care area at a slow feed rate. Scanning may include emitting particles in a particle beam toward the die resulting an incidence on the die. Emitting may be performed using a particle emitter. Scanning may then include detecting a portion of particles reflected from the incidence. Detecting may be performed using a detector. Scanning may then include changing a position of the stage relative to the incidence.

Imaging apparatus for monitoring objects

An imaging apparatus that includes a scanning mirror arrangement, optics, and a detector arrangement comprising a plurality of detectors. The plurality of detectors are capable for detecting submillimeter-/millimeter-range electromagnetic radiation and arranged within a region defined by an outer periphery and an inner periphery of the detector arrangement. The outer and inner peripheries are substantially circular in shape.

Three-dimensional image reconstruction using transmission and scatter radiography methods

A method for image reconstruction includes irradiating an object with a beam of radiation from a radiation source, measuring an attenuated portion of the beam, estimating a density of the object, determining a predicted attenuated portion of the beam using the density estimate, and iteratively adjusting the density estimate of the object. The predicted attenuated portion and the measured attenuated portion are compared to determine a signal difference. The density estimate of each portion of the object is adjusted by scaling the density estimate using the average signal differences of rays that intersect the portion of the object. The density estimate may be repeatedly adjusted until a difference between consecutive density estimates is below a selected threshold or a predetermined number of adjustments have been completed. The attenuated portion of the beam may include a scattered portion and a transmitted portion.
