X-ray diffraction and X-ray spectroscopy method and related apparatus
A method and apparatus for rapid measurement and analysis of structure and composition of poly-crystal materials by X-ray diffraction and X-ray spectroscopy, which uses a two-dimensional energy dispersive area detector having an array of pixels, and a white spectrum X-ray beam source. A related data processing method includes separating X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy signals in the energy dispersive X-ray spectrum detected by each pixel of the two-dimensional energy dispersive detector; correcting the detected X-ray diffraction signals by a correction function; summing the corrected X-ray diffraction signals and X-ray spectroscopy signals, respectively, over all pixels to obtain an enhanced diffraction spectrum and an enhanced spectroscopy spectrum; using the enhanced diffraction and spectroscopy spectrum respectively to determine the structure and composition of the sample. The summing step includes using Bragg's equation to convert the intensity-energy diffraction spectrum for each pixel into an intensity-lattice spacing spectrum before summing them.
Specimen radiography system comprising cabinet and a specimen drawer positionable by a controller in the cabinet
A specimen radiography system may include a controller and a cabinet. The cabinet may include an x-ray source, an x-ray detector, and a specimen drawer disposed between the x-ray source and the x-ray detector. The specimen drawer may be automatically positionable along a vertical axis between the x-ray source and the x-ray detector.
X-RAY INSPECTION APPARATUS
Utilizing random variation (repeated positioning error) when reciprocating operation is repeatedly performed in which a stage is moved by (+x, +y) pulses toward an arbitrary position perpendicular to an optical axis of X-rays extending from an X-ray source to an X-ray detector, and then, is moved from there by (−x, −y) pulses, an image group of images obtained by moving in parallel to each other is acquired, and an image processing unit finds a deviation between the images, and acquires an input image group in which each of the images has the deviation at a subpixel level. The image processing unit executes a reconstruction processing, using the input image group in which each of the images has the deviation at the subpixel level to generate a super-resolution image.
Method of detecting an anomaly in a single crystal structure
A method of detecting an anomaly in a crystallographic structure, the method comprising: illuminating the structure with x-ray radiation in a known direction relative to the crystallographic orientation; positioning the structure such that its crystallographic orientation is known; detecting a pattern of the diffracted x-ray radiation transmitted through the structure; generating the simulated pattern based on the known direction relative to the crystallographic orientation; comparing the detected pattern to a simulated pattern for x-ray radiation illuminating in the known direction; and, detecting the anomaly in the crystallographic structure based on the comparison.
Methods and Systems for Generating Three-Dimensional Images that Enable Improved Visualization and Interaction with Objects in the Three-Dimensional Images
In some embodiments, the present specification describes methods for displaying a three-dimensional image of an isolated threat object or region of interest with a single touch or click and providing spatial and contextual information relative to the object, while also executing a view dependent virtual cut-away or rendering occluding portions of the reconstructed image data as transparent. In some embodiments, the method includes allowing operators to associate audio comments with a scan image of an object. In some embodiments, the method also includes highlighting a plurality of voxels, which are indicative of at least one potential threat item, in a mask having a plurality of variable color intensities, where the intensities may be varied based on the potential threat items.
SCANNING SYSTEMS AND RELATED METHODS
Scanning systems and related methods are provided. The scanning systems and methods may be computed tomography (CT) based scanning systems and methods. According to some aspects, the scanning systems have a reduced size compared to conventional scanning systems and may have similar throughput to some conventional scanning systems. According to some aspects, the scanning systems are reconfigurable into at least two scanning arrangements. Reduced size and/or reconfigurable scanning systems can allow an operator to dispose a scanning system in an environment that would not accommodate a conventional scanning system. Accordingly, the scanning systems described herein can provide enhanced security in some environments.
