Magneto-optical system for guided wave inspection and monitoring
The present application describes a magneto-optical based guided waves system for inspection and monitoring of assets. The system has a magnetostrictive-based wave emitter for signal generation and a network of optical fiber sensors for detection, both mechanically coupled to the asset, a device with embedded software for hardware control and signal processing, and a framework capable of providing visual and analytic insights about the condition of the structure of interest. The enhancement of flaw detection, location and characterization abilities of the system are obtained through the use of high sensitivity and passive fiber optics sensors with very small size, distributed and multi-parameter sensing capabilities.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR POSITION TRACKING OF A CRAWLER ON A STRUCTURE
A crawler maps a structure by moving at least longitudinally or circumferentially on the structure. A probe scans the structure to generate scan data corresponding to the structure. A distance measuring unit measures a distance of the probe from a landmark extending circumferentially around the structure. An orientation sensor determines an orientation of the crawler on the structure. A processor generates a map of the scan data of the structure indexed by the distance and orientation.
Visual ultrasonic nondestructive testing device and method for deep/long-hole pipe
The present invention discloses a visual ultrasonic nondestructive testing device and method for a deep/long-hole pipe. The device is composed of an ultrasonic measurement module, a mechanical motion module, a control module, and a coupling injection and assistance module. The ultrasonic measurement module includes an ultrasonic pulse transmitter/receiver, and the ultrasonic transmitter/receiver includes a high-speed analog/digital (A/D) converter; the mechanical motion module includes a scanning device, a probe and a holding device thereof, and a magnetic drive device. A scanning device can move in two directions, that is, an X-axis on which a magnetic driving wheel steps and a Y-axis on which a module body tests. During the scanning process, on the X-axis, a stepping motor drives a synchronous wheel-belt transmission, so that the magnetic driving wheel is rotated to achieve the purpose of stepping; on the Y-axis, a stepping motor on the module body drives the probe to reciprocate.

Acoustic surface imaging using time of flight
A system, device and method for imaging, measuring and identifying surface features in a tubular, such as a casing, wellbore, or pipe. The device comprises an ultrasound transducer for sonifying an area of the surface of the tubular, with a pulse intercepting axial locations of the sonified area at different times. Reflected signals are processed using their time of flight to interpret the reflected signals as axial locations of features on the surface of the tubular. Multiple sonified areas are partially overlapped in the axial direction to capture features redundantly. Reflections from the multiple areas are combined to remove noise and strengthen reflections from real features. A geometric model of the surface of the tubular is rendered and displayed. Capturing larger areas per frame increases the logging rate and oversampling improves the resolution and signal to noise ratio.

When a transmission unit (2) is moved on the surface of a metal pipe (60) and the distance between a corroded part (5) and the transmission unit (2) is changed, only a waveform portion A of ultrasonic waves reflected by the corroded part (5) moves toward the left or right along an X axis, and only the intensity of a noise waveform portion B included in a received wave changes upward or downward along a Y axis, which makes it possible to separate the waveform portion A and the noise waveform portion B of a longitudinal-wave surface wave reflected by the corroded part (5) and evaluate the waveform portion A in detail.

Device and Method for Determining a Material Composition of a Pipe
A device, and corresponding method, for determining a material composition of the pipe includes a probe, a resonance frequency measurement circuit, and a material analyzer. The probe includes an oscillator circuit and can be inserted into an interior cavity of the type. The probe also can emit electromagnetic radiation into the interior cavity via the oscillator circuit. The frequency measurement circuit is in operative communication with the oscillator circuit and is configured to output resonant frequency measurement data indicative of a resonance frequency of the oscillator circuit when inserted into the interior cavity. The material analyzer can receive the resonance frequency measurement data, and an additional measurement, and can output an indication of material composition of the pipe based on the resonance frequency measurement data and the additional measurement.
Apparatus and method for detecting defect of press panel
An apparatus for detecting a defect of a press panel includes: an acoustic emission sensor unit configured to detect at least one elastic wave signal emitted from the press panel as a detection target during press work, a period measurer configured to measure a period as a section in which there are consecutive signals with a greater voltage than a threshold voltage among the at least one detected signals, and a defect existence determination unit configured to determine that a defect is generated in the press panel when the measured period is greater than a first reference value, and to determine that the press panel is in a normal state when the measured period is smaller than a second reference value which is smaller than the first reference value.
