SENSING SENSOR AND SENSING METHOD
A sensing sensor includes a wiring board, a piezoelectric resonator, and a gel-like protective agent. The piezoelectric resonator has one surface side on which an adsorbing film is formed. The adsorbing film is constituted of biomolecules. The protective agent is disposed so as to cover a surface of the adsorbing film. The protective agent is configured to suppress an inactivation of the biomolecules. The channel forming member is disposed so as to cover a region of the one surface side of the wiring board including the piezoelectric resonator. The channel forming member includes an injection port of the sample solution. The flow passage is disposed between the wiring board and the channel forming member. The flow passage is configured to allow the sample solution supplied to the injection port to flow from one end side to another end side on the one surface side of the piezoelectric resonator.
Piezoelectric plate sensor and uses thereof
A piezoelectric plate sensor comprising a piezoelectric layer; two electrodes; and an insulation layer. The insulation layer is produced by soaking the piezoelectric layer and two electrodes in a mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane solution with an amount of water from 0.1 v/v. % to about 1 v/v % and at pH from about 8 to about 150 for a period from about 8 to about 15 hours, and the mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane solution has a concentration of mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane from about 0.01 v/v % to about 0.5 v/v %. A method of detecting a biomolecule in a sample using the piezoelectric plate sensor in particular, that of detecting a genetic marker with PCR sensitivity and specificity without the need of DNA isolation or amplification is also provided. The piezoelectric plate sensor may be used to diagnose various diseases including breast cancer, myocardial infarction, diarrhea, Clostridium difficile infection, and hepatitis B infection.
Surface acoustic wave resonant sensor
A surface acoustic wave resonant sensor for measuring a sample comprising a single port surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonator comprising an interdigital transducer and at least one reflective grating. The sensor is provided with a region for receiving the sample, said region being in communication with the at least one reflective grating and the IDT is separated acoustically and electrically from the region for receiving a sample such that the IDT is not mass sensitive to the sample. The sensor is especially suitable for bio sensing applications.
Aircraft air contaminant analyzer and method of use
Disclosed are methods for determining and classifying aircraft air contaminants comprising one or more of: turbine engine oil, hydraulic fluid and deicing fluid using contaminant analyzers comprising a contaminant collector comprising a membrane and a heater vaporizing the contaminants; a gravimetric sensor generating a response when contaminant mass is added to or removed from the sensor, the sensor receiving contaminants desorbed from the heated membrane; a frequency measurement device, measuring the response generated by the sensor as the contaminant is added to and removed from the sensor; a computer readable medium bearing a contaminant recognition program and calibration data; a processor executing the program, the program including a module classifying contaminants by type, and a module using the data for comparison with magnitude of response generated by the sensor to calculate contaminant concentration; and, a pump, generating flow of air through the collector before and after the membrane is heated.
MULTI-WELL QUARTZ CRYSTAL MICROBALANCE MASS AND VISCOELASTIC SENSOR
In an embodiment, a system includes a plurality of sensor devices contained in a plurality of wells contained in a well-plate assembly. The sensor devices are used in a plurality of oscillators. Each oscillator generates a frequency and a resistance based on a quality of living biological cells contained in a corresponding well. The quality may include, for example, surface coupled mass, density, viscosity, and/or viscoelasticity of the living biological cells. The system also includes logic for measuring a resonant frequency and motional resistance associated with each sensor device and logic for processing the measured resonant frequency and motional resistance. Moreover, the system includes logic for displaying one or more graphs showing one or more characteristics of the living biological cells contained in the wells.
SENSOR APPARATUS
A sensor apparatus includes: an element substrate; a detecting section disposed on an upper surface of the element substrate, the detecting section including a reaction section having an immobilization film to detect an analyte; a first IDT electrode configured to generate an acoustic wave which propagates toward the reaction section, and a second IDT electrode configured to receive the acoustic wave which has passed through the reaction section; and a protective film located on the upper surface of the element substrate so as to cover the first IDT electrode, the second IDT electrode, and at least part of the immobilization film, the protective film extending between and contacting with the immobilization film and at least one of the first IDT electrode and the second IDT electrode.
BAW SENSING AND FILTRATION DEVICE AND RELATED METHODS
A fluidic device incorporating at least one BAW resonator structure (e.g., a biosensing device) and a fluidic passage includes one or more features that provide filtration capability. Certain embodiments include at least one group of pillars extending into the fluidic passage which are arranged between an active region of the at least one BAW resonator structure and at least one fluidic port. Individual pillars are separated from one another by inter-pillar spaces that provide redundant fluid flow paths while preventing passage of obstruction media such as particulate matter, cells, and/or bubbles. Certain embodiments provide porous material arranged in fluid communication with at least one fluidic port and configured to filter contents of fluid supplied thereto. Porous material (e.g., porous membranes) may be provided in a cover structure of a fluidic device or within a filtration cartridge.
Self-sensing array of microcantilevers for chemical detection
The invention provides a chemical detection system for detecting at least one target chemical species, including a self-sensed cantilevered probe array having a plurality of self-sensed cantilevered probes, at least one chemical-sensitive coating material applied to at least one cantilevered probe in the cantilevered probe array, and an interface circuit that is coupled to the cantilevered probe array. At least one cantilevered probe in the cantilevered probe array exhibits a shifted cantilevered probe response when the cantilevered probe array is exposed to the target chemical species and the interface circuit actuates the cantilevered probe. A handheld chemical detection system and a method of operation are also disclosed.
Resonant surface acoustic wave chemical detector
Apparatus for chemical detection includes a pair of interdigitated transducers (IDTs) formed on a piezoelectric substrate. The apparatus includes a layer of adsorptive material deposited on a surface of the piezoelectric substrate between the IDTs, where each IDT is conformed, and is dimensioned in relation to an operating frequency and an acoustic velocity of the piezoelectric substrate, so as to function as a single-phase uni-directional transducer (SPUDT) at the operating frequency. Additionally, the apparatus includes the pair of IDTs is spaced apart along a propagation axis and mutually aligned relative to said propagation axis so as to define an acoustic cavity that is resonant to surface acoustic waves (SAWs) at the operating frequency, where a distance between each IDT of the pair of IDTs ranges from 100 wavelength of the operating frequency to 400 wavelength of the operating frequency.
