BAW sensor device with peel-resistant wall structure
Lateral boundaries of a fluidic passage of a fluidic device incorporating at least one BAW resonator structure are fabricated with photosensitive materials (e.g., photo definable epoxy, solder mask resist, or other photoresist), allowing for high aspect ratio, precisely dimensioned walls. Resistance to delamination and peeling between a wall structure and a base structure is enhanced by providing a wall structure that includes a thin footer portion having a width that exceeds a width of an upper wall portion extending upward from the footer portion, and/or by providing a wall structure arranged over at least one anchoring region of a base structure. Anchoring features may include recesses and/or protrusions.
VARIABLE ANGLE TRANSDUCER INTERFACE BLOCK
A variable angle transducer interface block apparatus and related systems and methods are disclosed. The variable angle transducer interface block apparatus has an interface block having a mounting receiver. The interface block is positioned proximate to a material wall. A curved mounting structure is movably connected to the mounting receiver. A transducer is mounted on the curved mounting structure, wherein an angle of an acoustic signal transmitted by the transducer into the material wall is adjustable by movement of the curved mounting structure relative to the mounting receiver.
ULTRASONIC SENSOR FOR GUIDED WAVE TESTING
An ultrasonic sensor for guided wave testing is disclosed. The sensor comprises a flexible circuit board (2), an array of piezoelectric elements (10) on the flexible circuit board and an array of permanent magnets (16). Each piezoelectric element is interposed between a respective permanent magnet and the flexible circuit board.
Systems and methods of active control of surface drag using selective wave generation
A system includes a surface, an actuator, and a controller. The surface has a fluid flowing over the surface. The actuator is coupled to the surface to move the surface relative to the fluid. The controller causes the actuator to cause the surface to generate a surface wave that modifies drag in the fluid. The actuator can cause the surface to generate a Love wave.
JOINED BODY TESTING METHOD, JOINED BODY TESTING DEVICE, AND JOINED BODY
A testing method for a joined body, in which a second pipe member having an outer diameter smaller than that of a first pipe member having at least one through hole is inserted into the first pipe member and the second pipe member is expanded to form a joining portion, the testing method includes: applying an elastic wave vibration to the joined body of the first pipe member and the second pipe member, for plural visual field regions at different positions in a circumferential direction of the joined body, acquiring a vibration distribution of the second pipe member measured through the through hole and a vibration distribution of the first pipe member in a visual field region including the joining portion of the first pipe member and the second pipe member, which are measured optically and in a batch, and determining quality of joining in the entire joining portion based on the acquired vibration distributions.
Microtexture region characterization systems and methods
The present disclosure provides methods and systems for the characterization of a microtexture of a sample, component, or the like. The methods may include methods of determining a service life limiting region of a component, determining a treatment method for a component, and/or selecting components from a batch of components for use in production. The characterization may include calculating a microtexture level indicator from ultrasonic C-scan images for various samples, regions, components, or the like. The microtexture level indicator may include at least one of an average peak factor, a standard deviation of peak amplitude, and/or a baseband bandwidth.
Subsurface atomic force microscopy with guided ultrasound waves
Methods and systems for subsurface imaging of nanostructures buried inside a plate shaped substrate are provided. An ultrasonic generator at a side face of the substrate is used to couple ultrasound waves (W) into an interior of the substrate. The interior has or forms a waveguide for propagating the ultrasound waves (W) in a direction (X) along a length of the substrate transverse to the side face. The nanostructures are imaged using an AFM tip to measure an effect (E) at the top surface caused by direct or indirect interaction of the ultrasound waves (W) with the buried nanostructures.
Sensing device
A sensing device is provided. The sensing device includes a heat regulation mechanism to regulate a temperature of a piezoelectric resonator corresponding to a voltage, and uses a sensing sensor to cause a sensing object to adsorb to and desorb from the piezoelectric resonator by increase and decrease of the temperature. A drive voltage is regulated to regulate an amplification factor of a heat regulation voltage input to a drive voltage regulator that regulates the temperature of the heat regulation mechanism corresponding to the type of a sensing sensor connected to a device main body. Therefore, when a CQCM sensor that heats a crystal resonator using a heater circuit and a TQCM sensor that regulates a heat of the crystal resonator sing a Peltier element are each used, regulation ranges of the driving powers supplied to the respective heater circuit and Peltier element can be changed.
Analyte depletion for sensor equilibration
Methods include treating a portion of a sample composition to be tested for presence of an analyte by depleting or blocking the target analyte. The treated composition may be used to equilibrate an acoustic wave sensor prior to exposing the sensor to the untreated sample composition for analysis. By using the treated sample composition, in which the analyte is depleted or blocked, to equilibrate the sensor, the sensor may be equilibrated with a composition having a similar viscosity and non-specific binding characteristics to the untreated sample composition, which should result in improved accuracy when analyzing the analyte in the untreated sample composition.
