OPTICAL SYSTEM FOR AN ENDOSCOPE
20170293139 · 2017-10-12 ·

An optical system for an endoscope includes an objective and a reversal system arranged after the objective. The reversal system includes at least one reversal stage for projecting the distal intermediate image as a proximal intermediate image into a proximal intermediate image plane. The reversal system imprints on the proximal intermediate image a first longitudinal chromatic aberration referred to a predetermined wavelength from the visible spectrum and a predetermined wavelength from the near infrared range. The objective imprints on the distal intermediate image a second longitudinal chromatic aberration referred to the predetermined wavelength from the visible spectrum and the predetermined wavelength from the near infrared range. The second longitudinal chromatic aberration has the opposite sign relative to the first longitudinal chromatic aberration, which reduces the longitudinal chromatic aberration caused by the reversal system in the proximal intermediate image.

MULTIPLE IMAGING MODALITY LIGHT SOURCE

A light source for medical or surgical procedures is provided which can provide at least three different imaging modes. Modular light engines are also provided which may be interchangeable within a light source system for increased imaging capability. Methods of using such light sources and modular light engines are also provided.

ENDOSCOPIC LED LIGHT SOURCE HAVING A FEEDBACK CONTROL SYSTEM

A method of generating illumination by a light source for transmission to an endoscope includes emitting light from a plurality of light emitters of the light source, each light emitter emitting light having a different wavelength range from other light emitters of the plurality of light emitters; combining the light emitted from the plurality of light emitters into a combined light; receiving and condensing the combined light by a focusing optic to create a condensed light; and receiving and orienting the condensed light in a straight path direction by a collimating optic.

ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT

This disclosure relates to instruments and methods of performing an endoscopy. An endoscope for producing images of a surgery in vivo may include a hub and an imaging rod extending from the hub, the imaging rod being configured to receive light and direct the light to an imaging sensor located adjacent to a distal end of the imaging rod, the hub and the imaging rod being attached to form an assembly having a center of mass established distally of the hub. In other implementations, the hub may be omitted.
