Integrated endoscope cleansing system
An integrated endoscope cleansing system (IECS) comprises both an independent cleansing system (ICS) evacuation conduit in communication with an independent cleansing system working station (IWS), and an endoscope insertion tube with a working channel functionally coupled to a vacuum source, under control of an endoscope working station (EWS). In some embodiments, the ICS evacuation conduit is located within the insertion tube, while being functionally coupled to an ICS vacuum source, controlled by the IWS.
FLEXIBLE TUBE AND INSERTION APPARATUS
A flexible tube used as a part of an insertion section which defines a central axis of an insertion apparatus to be inserted into a hole, the flexible tube includes: a helical tube comprising a closely-wound region including a concave-convex portion which is provided on each of a pair of edges of a strip-shaped member elongated along a longitudinal axis, and which alternately includes convex portions and concave portions on the concave-convex portion, wherein, in a state where the strip-shaped member is spirally wound, the convex portions of the concave-convex portions facing each other along the central axis are compressed to each other; and a cylindrical outer tube which covers an outer surface of the helical tube.
Optical medical instrument
An optical medical instrument, in particular an endoscope or exoscope, has an elongate tubular shaft, a heat source generating lost heat, and a heat pipe which extends inside the shaft, in the longitudinal direction of the shaft, and has a distal heat pipe end and a proximal heat pipe end, wherein the heat pipe is thermally coupled to the heat source in order to collect heat from the latter and remove the heat from the heat source. Between the distal heat pipe end and the proximal heat pipe end, the heat pipe is coupled thermally conductively and two-dimensionally to the shaft over at least a partial length of the heat pipe and over at least a partial circumference of the heat pipe, in order to remove heat from the heat pipe, over at least a partial length and over at least a partial circumference of the shaft, to the environment.
METHOD OF DETERMINING THE SHAPE OF A BENDABLE INSTRUMENT
A method for determining a shape of a bendable instrument can include placing the bendable instrument in a neutral position; moving a first control element a first amount until slack is removed from the first control element; moving a second control element a second amount until slack is removed from the second control element; sensing a position of the first control element after moving the first control element the first amount, the sensed position of the first control element being defined as a first control element calibration position; sensing a position of the second control element after moving the second control element the second amount, the sensed position of the second control element being defined as a second control element calibration position. The method can further include bending the instrument by moving one or both of the first control element and the second control element from the respective first control element calibration position and the second control element calibration position; and determining a resulting shape of the bendable instrument based on a distance one or both of the first control element and the second control element respectively moved from the first control element calibration position and second control element calibration.
ILLUMINATION APPARATUS
