The disclosure relates to an endoscopic system that includes an image sensor, an emitter and an electromagnetic radiation driver. The image sensor includes a pixel array and is configured to generate and read out pixel data for an image based on electromagnetic radiation received by the pixel array. The pixel array includes a plurality of lines for reading out pixel data. The pixel array also has readout period that is the length of time for reading out all plurality of lines of pixel data in the pixel array. The emitter is configured to emit electromagnetic radiation for illumination of a scene observed by the image sensor. The electromagnetic radiation driver is configured to drive emissions by the emitter. The electromagnetic radiation driver includes a jitter specification less than or equal to about 10% to about 25% percent of the readout period of the pixel array of the image sensor.

Illuminated Suction Apparatus
An illuminated suction apparatus including a hand-held surgical device combining a high-performance illumination waveguide with suction. This device would be useful in a wide array of various surgical procedures including open and minimally invasive orthopedics.
TIP REFLECTION REDUCTION FOR SHAPE-SENSING OPTICAL FIBER
A method for end-reflection reduction of an optical shape-sensing fiber is described. The includes: providing a tip portion having a length dimension (d); connecting the tip portion to an end portion of an optical fiber configured for optical shape-sensing, the tip portion being indexed matched to the optical fiber; and adjusting the absorption properties of the tip portion using back reflections as feedback to provide an absorption length for light traveling in the optical fiber to reduce the back reflections.
Tip reflection reduction for shape-sensing optical fiber
A reflection reduction device includes an optical fiber (104) configured for optical sensing and having an end portion. A tip portion (102) is coupled to the end portion. The tip portion includes a length dimension (d) and is index matched to the optical fiber. The tip portion is further configured to include an absorption length to absorb and scatter light within the length dimension, and a surface (S) opposite the end portion is configured to reduce back reflections.
IMAGE FIBER, ENDOSCOPE HAVING IMAGE FIBER, AND ENDOSCOPE SYSTEM HAVING ENDOSCOPE
An image fiber includes: a plurality of cores; a cladding that integrally encloses the plurality of cores; a light guide fiber that propagates illumination light; and a light guide layer that covers an entire periphery of an external peripheral surface of the cladding and that is in contact with an external peripheral surface of the light guide fiber. The light guide layer is capable of propagating the illumination light.

Atherectomy catheters with imaging
An atherectomy catheter includes an elongate flexible catheter body, an elongate deflectable distal tip coupled to the catheter body at a hinge point, a rotatable cutter near the distal end of the catheter body, and a drive shaft extending within the catheter body and configured to rotate the cutter. The atherectomy catheter further includes an optical fiber extending through the drive shaft substantially on-axis with the catheter body and attached to the cutter. The optical fiber is configured to rotate with the drive shaft. The atherectomy catheter further includes a wedge configured to deflect the distal tip away from the catheter body at the hinge point upon axial movement of the drive shaft.
Optical fiber core wire
The coated optical fiber (10) includes: an optical fiber (11) including a core (111) and a cladding (112); a first buffer layer (121) covering the optical fiber (11), and having a refractive index lower than that of the cladding (112) and a Shore D hardness of D/20.0/1 or higher; a second buffer layer (122) covering the first buffer layer (121), and having a higher Shore D hardness than the first buffer layer (121); and a jacket (13) covering the second buffer layer (122).
