DIAGNOSIS OF CANCER
A method for the early detection and monitoring of the progression of cancer by detecting breath biomarkers is provided. The method comprises assessing the activity of an aldo-keto reductase by measuring the concentration of an exogenous substrate for said enzyme and/or measuring the concentration of a metabolite of said substrate in exhaled breath of a subject. Preferably, the cancer is lung cancer.
Energy drinks and other nutritional aids derived from agave-based spirits
Compositions containing monoamine oxidase inhibitors prepared by removal of alcohol from agave-derived beverages are disclosed.
Glutamine synthetase reaction and method for quantifying ammonia utilizing the same
A reagent for glutamine synthetase reaction comprising a chelating agent and glutamine synthetase, and a reagent for quantification of ammonia comprising a chelating agent, ATP, glutamic acid, glutamine synthetase, glucose, an oxidized NAD compound, ADP-dependent hexokinase, and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, are provided.
IMMUNOASSAY ANALYZER, IMMUNOASSAY KIT AND METHOD FOR DETECTING ANALYTE IN LIQUID SAMPLE
A method for detecting at least one analyte in a liquid sample, the method comprising steps of a) binding the at least one analyte in the liquid sample with a capture reagent; b) binding a conjugate to the at least one analyte or the capture reagent; c) providing a substrate and converting the5 substrate into a product via a reaction with the conjugate, wherein the product is provided in a test area; and d) detecting an electric potential difference and/or a change in an electric current between at least one working electrode in the test area and at least one reference electrode in a reference area which is different from the test area.

The present disclosure relates to methods of detecting and treating inherited neuropathy.
Systems and methods for an electrochemical total cholesterol test
An electrochemical test for total cholesterol includes a test strip for an electrochemical testing testing of a blood analyte which includes a first receiving port, the first receiving port for receiving a blood sample, the first receiving port at a first end of the test strip. The test strip further includes a first electrode and a second electrode, the first and second electrodes proximate to the first receiving port. The test strip further includes a first contact and a second contact, the first and second contacts at a second end of the test strip, the first and second contacts interconnected with the first and second electrodes, respectively. The test strip further includes cholesterol oxidase, located proximate to the first and the second electrode. The test strip further includes a mediator, located proximate to the first and the second electrode, wherein the cholesterol oxidase and the mediator interact with the blood sample and the first and second electrode to generate a measurable electrical event.
METHOD FOR IMPROVING THE STABILITY OF A COMPOSITION COMPRISING A FLAVIN-DEPENDENT LACTATE DEHYDROGENASE
Provided is a method for improving thermal stability of a composition comprising flavin-dependent lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). The composition comprising LDH is allowed to coexist with one or more of an anion selected from the group consisting of a monocarboxylic acid, a dicarboxylic acid, a tricarboxylic acid, a tetracarboxylic acid, a polycarboxylic acid, phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid or a salt thereof; a monosaccharide; a disaccharide; a nonionic polymer; and an ionic polymer. It is possible to reduce deactivation of LDH during preparation and storage of a lactate measuring reagent, a lactate assay kit, a lactate sensor and fuel cell, reduce the amount of LDH to be used; as well as improve thermal stability, storage stability and measurement accuracy of the measuring reagent, assay kit and sensor.
ANTIGEN MEASURING METHOD AND MEASURING APPARATUS
There is provided a method for measuring an antigen, comprising: providing a solution containing an antigen; providing a first antibody that specifically recognizes the antigen and is bound to a magnetic carrier; providing a second antibody that specifically recognizes the antigen and is modified with an oxidase; providing (a substrate liquid including) a substrate which reacts with the oxidase; allowing the first antibody to recognize the antigen; allowing the second antibody to recognize the antigen; using a magnetic field to capture an antigen-antibody complex of the antigen recognized by the first antibody and the second antibody in the magnetic field; washing the antigen-antibody complex while it is captured in the magnetic field; reacting the substrate with the antigen-antibody complex to produce hydrogen peroxide; and measuring the hydrogen peroxide.
Enzyme sensor and electronic device
An enzyme sensor including a pair of electrodes, an electron transfer layer held between the pair of electrodes, and an electron generating capsule in which a membrane containing at least a substrate of an enzyme to be detected encloses at least one or more kinds of enzymes other than the enzyme to be detected, the electron generating capsule being in contact with the electron transfer layer.
Combination of Markers for Predicting the Response to Vx-001
The invention relates to the use of an anti-tumour vaccine composed of two peptides of nine amino acids—native cryptic TERT572 (RLFFYRKSV, SEQ ID No. 1), expressed by tumour cells, and the optimised variant thereof TERT572Y (YLFFYRKSV, SEQ ID No. 2), for the treatment of a tumour expressing telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT), in an HLA-A*0201 patient with a normal gamma glutamine transferase (gGT) level and/or a normal lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level.
