An endoscope having an endoscope head arranged on the distal end of the endoscope, preferably on the distal end portion of an actively curvable shaft portion. The endoscope has at least one optics device for imaging, and a working channel that extends in or on the endoscope along a longitudinal direction. The working channel has a working channel exit arranged on or in the endoscope head with a defined alignment relative to the optics device. The endoscope also has a pivot mechanism arranged between the distal shaft portion and the endoscope head. The pivot mechanism holds the endoscope head together with the working channel such that the endoscope head is foldable or bendable.

Surgical device tip with deflectable joint

A small diameter surgical tool implements an agonist-antagonist deflectable joint. The deflectable joint is an actuatable bendable structure that uses push-pull, agonist-antagonist action of a pair of nested tubes to actuate the joint. The tubes are designed to have non-central, offset neutral axes, and they are fixed together at locations distal to the deflectable joint, such as at their distal ends. Axial translations of the tubes relative to each other causes a push-pull, agonist-antagonist action between the tubes, which causes the deflectable joint to bend. In one implementation, a deflectable joint can be created in nested tubes by configuring radial portions of the tube sidewalls extending along the joint to have an axial region of reduced stiffness. As a result, axial agonist-antagonist motion between the tubes can cause bending of the deflectable joint.

The invention relates to an endoscope head including an endoscope head body in which at least one working channel is formed, wherein a pivotable Albarran lever is provided distally of the distal end of the working channel, wherein, on the endoscope head body, a pivot member actuatable from the proximal side is provided for pivoting the Albarran lever, wherein a pulling wire channel extends in the endoscope head body and has a pulling wire for actuating the pivot member guided therein, wherein the pivot member has a protrusion, and wherein the pulling wire is capable of displacing a sliding member having a surface on which the protrusion is supported, so that the pivot member is rotated by displacing the sliding member.

EFFICIENT MULTI-FUNCTIONAL ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT

An instrument for endoscopic applications, including urology. The instrument may include both irrigation and aspiration channels, effective attraction and suction of tissue and body stone fragments, enhanced viewing clarity of the operational area, illumination fibers with steering function for flexible version of the scopes. In some embodiments, a distal head is configured to locate a mouth of the working channel within a viewing angle of the visualization system. In some embodiments, a transparent cap is disposed at the distal end of endoscope to provide an enhanced view of the operational area. Irrigation and aspiration channels may be arranged so that consistent water flow will attract tissue and body stone particles and remove heated liquid. Illumination fibers may be utilized as pull linkages or push-pull linkages for deflection and steering of flexible embodiments of the scope.

Endoscope with control for tip deflection

A control for an endoscope includes a housing defining an interior volume. A lever external to the housing extends through the housing into the interior volume. A gear system positioned in the interior volume is operatively coupled to the lever. The gear system includes a first quadrant and a second quadrant each configured to pivot about a corresponding axis to deflect a flexible distal tip portion of the endoscope in a corresponding direction.

CORRUGATED MEDICAL DEVICES

A medical device, comprising a shaft, wherein the shaft has a corrugated body, and wherein the corrugated body includes a plurality of hoops extending around a circumference of the shaft, a plurality of indentations, wherein the plurality of indentations extend around a portion of the circumference of the shaft and define a reduced-diameter portion of the shaft relative to a diameter of the plurality of hoops, and wherein each of the plurality of hoops is spaced apart from an adjacent hoop of the plurality of hoops by at least one of the plurality of indentations, and a plurality of nodes, wherein each node extends between and connects adjacent hoops of the plurality of hoops, and wherein each of the plurality of nodes is radially offset relative to adjacent nodes along a longitudinal axis of the shaft.

LEVER ACTUATED GIMBAL PLATE

A force transmission transmits forces received by three levers to an input gimbal plate having three support points. The input gimbal play may in turn transmit the force to a wrist assembly coupled to a surgical tool. The three axes of rotation for the three levers are parallel. Two of the levers may have half-cylinder surfaces at an end of the lever to receive a support point of the input gimbal plate. Two of the levers may be supported with one degree of rotational freedom orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the fulcrum. A spring may draw the second and third levers toward one another. Two levers may have stops that bear against the support points. The force transmission may include a parallelogram linkage that includes a rocker link pivotally coupled to the first lever and having a flat surface that supports the first gimbal support point.
