Certain aspects relate to systems and techniques for an endoscopic system to access, visualize, and treat pathologies in various organs via natural orifices and lumens of various organs. In one aspect, the system includes an elongate shaft configured for insertion into a urinary tract of a patient. The elongate shaft can include a proximal section, a distal section, a tip portion, and a plurality of pull wires extending along the elongate shaft and terminating at the tip portion of the elongate shaft. The plurality of pull wires may include a first and second pull wire. The first pull wire may be configured to articulate each of the proximal section and the distal section in a first direction. The second pull wire may be configured to articulate the distal section in a second direction independently of the proximal section, the second direction being transverse to the first direction.

An endoscope includes a bendable part having a first bendable portion, a second bendable portion, a flexible tube part, and an operation unit. An upward coil is attached at its distal end on the second bendable portion. A second coil is attached at its distal end on the flexible tube part and at its proximal end in the operation unit. An upward coil receiver is disposed in the operation unit with the upward coil being connected to the upward coil receiver. A selection member presses the upward coil receiver and compresses the upward coil. A bent length selection wire is connected to the selection member. A selection pulley is disposed in the operation unit and is configured to allow the upward coil receiver to advance or retract via the selection member. A cam plate having cam portions is formed to increase a frictional force with rotation of the selection pulley.

An endoscope includes a bending portion bendable in all directions including four directions: an up direction, a down direction, a left direction, and a right direction, a bending operation lever configured to bend the bending portion by being tilted, and a wire pulling mechanism provided integrally on the bending operation lever and including a lever tilting angle adjustment mechanism configured to set a first tilting angle at which the bending operation lever is tilted in order to bend the bending portion to at least one direction in the four directions by a predetermined bending angle and a second tilting angle at which the bending operation lever is tilted in order to bend the bending portion in a direction different from the at least one direction by a predetermined bending angle to different angles when the bending operation lever is tilted so as to bend the bending portion.

Steerable Micro-Endoscope Having an Electro-Surgery Tool

A steerable micro-endoscope comprising a cylindrical elongated member having at least a first lumen, a tensioning wire running in the first lumen and attached at the distal end of the elongated member; the elongated member having a proximal portion and a distal portion, having respectively a first durometer and a second durometer lower than the first durometer; the first lumen being arranged such that the distal portion of the elongated body bends when the tensioning wire is pulled; wherein the elongated member comprises a second lumen; an electrode wire being arranged in the second lumen such that the distal end of the electrode wire does not protrude from the distal portion of the elongated member when the elongated member is not bent, and such that the distal end of the electrode wire protrudes from the distal portion of the elongated member when the elongated member is bent.

An electronic device may include a shaft insertable into a target area, and an electronic component configured to generate a signal. The electronic component may be on or within the shaft. The electronic device may also include at least one antenna on or within the shaft. The electronic device may also include a receiver operatively coupled to the antenna. The receiver may monitor an electrical characteristic of the antenna to identify an effect of an electromagnetic field on the electrical characteristic of the antenna. The electronic device may also include a processor communicatively coupled to the receiver. At least one of the receiver and the processor may predict an effect of the electromagnetic field on the signal generated by the electronic component, based at least in part on the effect of the electromagnetic field on the electrical characteristic of the antenna.

ANTITWIST MECHANISM FOR ROBOTIC ENDOSCOPE CAMERA

A steerable catheter driven by a robotic controller comprises: a catheter body having a catheter tip and tool channel which spans from a proximal end of the catheter body and through the catheter tip along a catheter axis. The catheter tip includes a ramp-like surface formed inside part of the tool channel diameter. The ramp-like surface is an inclined flat surface formed at an angle with respect to a plane parallel to the catheter axis, such that the angle increases as the ramp-like surface spans from distal end towards the proximal end of the catheter tip. A housing mechanism permanently attached to an imaging device is configured to lock the imaging device to the ramp-like surface so as to prevent rotation of the imaging device with respect to the tool channel and/or prevent twisting of the catheter tip with respect to the imaging device.
