An endoscope control system for performing a bending operation in a disposable insertion endoscope, the endoscope control system including a control wheel connected to a wire drum for connection to a steering wire of the endoscope, whereby rotation of the control wheel controls the bending operation, and a multi-disc brake including a stack of at least three brake discs, wherein activation of the multi-disc brake changes the multi-disc brake from a released state to a braking state, a brake torque generated by the multi-disc brake in the braking state braking rotation of the control wheel, the brake torque in the released state being at least partially released.

A handheld, steerable catheter robotic system includes a catheter having a flexible outer sheath, at least one flexible multi-lumen assembly and a robotic instrument for performing a surgical procedure. The catheter is removably insertable into an instrument channel of an endoscope. The flexible multi-lumen assembly extends through the outer sheath. The robotic instrument is operatively and removably attachable to a distal end of the multi-lumen assembly such that the robotic instrument is teleoperable. The catheter robotic system also includes a handle operatively and removably attachable to a proximal end of the catheter. The handle is configured for hand-held operation and includes a joystick for steering the robotic instrument.

The articulation control includes control knobs and concentric drive shafts for articulation. The electronics module includes a battery, a control board, and an optical and/or electrical connector. The separable disposable shaft comprises a housing having an articulation wire actuating assembly mounted thereto and an optical and/or electrical connector mounted thereto. When the housing of the hand-piece and the housing of the separable disposable shaft assembly are joined together, the articulation control engages the articulation wire actuating assembly and the optical and/or electrical connector of the reusable hand-piece engages the optical and/or electrical connector of the disposable shaft assembly.

A motor-driven endoscope includes: an insertion unit which is configured so that at least a part from one side thereof, and which includes a curve unit that is configured to be bent when being pulled by a wire inserted therein; a grip unit which is provided at one side of the insertion unit and is held by a user to input a driving input; a plurality of motors for transferring driving power so as to steer the curve unit; and a tension adjustment unit which is provided at the other side of the insertion unit and receives a rotating force from the motors to pull each wire, wherein the tension adjustment unit and the motor are configured to be coupled to or uncoupled from each other, and the tension adjustment unit is configured to receive the rotating force from the motor when coupled to the motor.

SYSTEMS AND DEVICES FOR ARTICULATION WIRE GUIDANCE

A steering assembly of a medical device may comprise a handle having a recess and first and second wire guides disposed within the recess. At least one of the first or second wire guides may be keyed to the recess to prevent rotation of the first or second wire guide within the recess. First and second wire segments may be configured to steer a sheath coupled to the steering assembly in first and second directions. The first wire segment may pass through a first gap between the first wire guide and the second wire guide. The second wire segment may pass through a second gap between the first wire guide and the second wire guide. Neither of the first nor the second gap may occupy any overlapping space.
