Mechanical seal with sensor
A system and method for monitoring a dry gas seal positionable between a stationary housing and a rotatable shaft. A plurality of sense elements may rotate in response to the rotation of the rotatable shaft and a speed sensor may sense the speed of the rotatable shaft at speeds below one thousand rotations per minute based on sensing the plurality of sense elements. An acoustic emissions sensor may sense when a first seal face and a second seal face forming a seal interface of the dry gas seal are in an operational condition relative to one another. A processor may receive output signals from the speed sensor and the acoustic emissions sensor, and may establish an operating condition of the dry gas seal based on the signal from the speed sensor when the first seal face and the second seal face reach the operational condition relative to one another.
Two output pin protocol for speed, direction, and diagnosis
A sensor device includes a first sensor element that generates a first sensor signal based on a varying magnetic field; a second sensor element that generates a second sensor signal based on the varying magnetic field; a signal processing circuit configured to generate a first pulsed signal based on the first sensor signal and generate a second pulsed signal based on the second sensor signal; a fault detector that detects a fault and generates an error signal indicating the fault; and an output generator that receives the error signal based on a first condition that the fault detector detects the fault, and simultaneously outputs a first output signal and a second output signal. In response to the first condition being satisfied, the output generator maintains the first output signal in a steady state and outputs the second pulsed signal as the second output signal.

AMR speed and direction sensor for use with magnetic targets
A movement sensor comprises a multi-pole ring magnet, a semiconductor substrate, a first magnetic sensor formed on the semiconductor substrate, and a second magnetic sensor formed on the semiconductor substrate. The first magnetic sensor is configured to produce a first output signal in response to movement of the multi-pole ring magnet, and a centroid of the first and second magnetic sensors are separate and radially aligned on the semiconductor substrate relative to the multi-pole ring magnet. The second magnetic sensor is arranged at a predetermined angle with respect to the first magnetic sensor and is configured to produce a second output signal in response to the movement of the multi-pole ring magnet. The predetermined angle is between 0° and 90° exclusive and is configured to produce a difference in phase between the first and second output signals in response to the movement of the multi-pole ring magnet.
