The present disclosure relates to a method for process monitoring in automation technology based at least on one capacitive and/or conductive measuring probe for determining at least one process variable of at least one medium in a container, an apparatus suitable for executing the method, as well as a computer program and a computer readable medium. The method comprises method steps ascertaining whether the measuring probe is at least partially in contact with the medium and registering as a function of time at least an electrical conductivity of the medium, a dielectric constant of the medium and/or a degree of coverage of the measuring probe by the medium. The method also includes a step of monitoring at least one, or the, process running within the container based on the electrical conductivity, the dielectric constant and/or the degree of coverage as a function of time.

Electrical Extraction of Piezoelectric Constants
Activity of piezoelectric material dimension and electrical properties can be changed with an applied stress. These variations are translated to a change in capacitance of the structure. Use of capacitance-voltage measurements for the extraction of double piezoelectric thin film material deposited at the two faces of a flexible steel sheet is described. Piezoelectric thin film materials are deposited using RF sputtering techniques. Gamry analyzer references 3000 is used to collect the capacitance-voltage measurements from both layers. A developed algorithm extracts directly the piezoelectric coefficients knowing film thickness, applied voltage, and capacitance ratio. The capacitance ratio is the ratio between the capacitances of the film when the applied field in antiparallel and parallel to the polling field direction, respectively. Piezoelectric bulk ceramic is used for calibration and validation by comparing the result with the reported values from literature. Extracted values using the current approach match well values extracted by existing methods.
Oil content sensor
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for measuring oil/water content in oil-water mixtures, regardless of the salinity of the mixture and regardless of air in the sensor pipe. In some embodiments, the oil content is measured using a dielectric sensor. It is determined whether the oil content is above or below a threshold. If the oil content is above the threshold, the oil content is reported using the measurement from the dielectric sensor. If the oil content is below the threshold, the oil content is reported using the measurement from the eddy current sensor. In some embodiments, which improve performance when there is air in the sensor pipe, two dielectric sensors with different geometries are used instead of the one dielectric sensor.
