Method and system for generating a retail experience using an augmented reality system

An augmented reality AR system and method for a retail experience include a waveguide apparatus that includes a planar waveguide and at least one optical diffraction element The AR retail system and method recognizes user location in a retail establishment, retrieves data corresponding to the retail establishment and generates virtual content relating to the retail establishment based on the retrieved data. The AR retail system and method creates a virtual user interface in a user's field of view. Virtual content is displayed on the virtual user interface while the user is engaged in retail activity and may be based on user input. The AR retail system and method may provide entertainment, facilitate the shopping experience, offer virtual coupons, render games based on locations throughout a store or based on a shopping list, provide information about food choices such as calorie counts, and identify metadata associated with items.

A system for identifying structures in an eye of a subject. In embodiments of the invention, the system has a housing; a visible light source supported by the housing; an infrared light source supported by the housing; a photodetector supported by the housing; a patient interface disposed on an outer surface of the housing arranged and configured so that, when the patient interface is placed in contact with the subject, the subject's eye is aligned with the light sources and the photodetector such that the light sources illuminate an iris of the eye at an angle between 15° and 30° and such that the photodetector receives light from the light sources reflected by the iris; and a controller configured to activate the visible light source and the infrared light source and to obtain image information from the photodetector.

METHOD OF IDENTIFYING IRIS
20230293007 · 2023-09-21 ·

A method of identifying an iris includes: providing incident beams entering an eye locating at a reference position; setting a first, a second and a third reference point for locating the eye at the reference position; forming a first, a second and a third measuring glint by the incident beams after the eye moves from the reference position to a measuring position, and positions of the first, the second and the third measuring glint corresponding to the positions of the first, the second and the third reference point; capturing an eye image including a first, a second, a third measuring glint image and an iris image; comparing the gray scale value with a threshold gray scale value to obtain the positions of the first, the second and the third measuring glint; and calculating a first and a second variation to obtain an resolution variation of the iris image.

Augmented and virtual reality display systems and methods for diagnosing health conditions based on visual fields

Configurations are disclosed for a health system to be used in various healthcare applications, e.g., for patient diagnostics, monitoring, and/or therapy. The health system may comprise a light generation module to transmit light or an image to a user, one or more sensors to detect a physiological parameter of the user's body, including their eyes, and processing circuitry to analyze an input received in response to the presented images to determine one or more health conditions or defects.

PLANAR WAVEGUIDE APPARATUS WITH DIFFRACTION ELEMENT(S) AND SYSTEM EMPLOYING SAME

A waveguide apparatus includes a planar waveguide and at least one optical diffraction element (DOE) that provides a plurality of optical paths between an exterior and interior of the planar waveguide. A phase profile of the DOE may combine a linear diffraction grating with a circular lens, to shape a wave front and produce beams with desired focus. Waveguide apparati may be assembled to create multiple focal planes. The DOE may have a low diffraction efficiency, and planar waveguides may be transparent when viewed normally, allowing passage of light from an ambient environment (e.g., real world) useful in AR systems. Light may be returned for temporally sequentially passes through the planar waveguide. The DOE(s) may be fixed or may have dynamically adjustable characteristics. An optical coupler system may couple images to the waveguide apparatus from a projector, for instance a biaxially scanning cantilevered optical fiber tip.
